Oct 3–11: Corporate Accountability Week of Action. Corporations prop up the anti-worker billionaire agenda. Ahead of November, we’re calling on businesses and CEOs to step up and use their power to defend free and fair elections. maydaystrong.org/corporate-we...
May Day Strong
October 3-11, 2026
During the week of action, organizations are encouraged to:
Tell national corporations and their billionaire CEOs: hands off our elections

Focus on local billionaires and corporations to do the same

Canvass neighborhoods to invite small businesses into local networks to support voting and defend democracy

GET THE FLOCK OUT
OF SAN JOSÉ

IF YOU CAN’T PROTECT IT,
DON’T COLLECT IT

WED., SEPT. 30 AT 1 PM
SAN JOSE CITY HALL - RALLY

An SJPD officer abused Flock data to put a survivor of domestic violence in danger. Though the officer was fired, this was an egregious violation of public trust.

We, as community members of San Jose, demand:

• The City cancel its Flock contract
• If the City still believes in this flawed system of mass surveillance, the City must suspend the cameras until the City Auditor, in consultation with the IPA, can do a complete audit
• Audit requirements and methodology must be defined by the City Auditor and IPA, and with the community in public forums
• Unauthorized uses must be defined by the City Manager and City Attorney

SOS: SAFETY OVER SURVEILLANCE

Happy 60th to Star Trek! 🖖 It invites us to see a possible future, one in which humanity actually gets its act together. Curiousity, diversity, cooperation. Activism is just the daily on-the-ground work of trying to get us to the Federation. Get involved. Organize. Vote. Make it so.

The Medora Musical tells the triumphalist story of our history. It's easy these days to dismiss it, to feel bitter. But, even though woefully incomplete, those stories are also true: of dreamers, risk takers, inventors, people looking for a better life...

A sign on the wall: Rebecca Belmore

Born 1960, Anishinaabe

ishkode (fire)

2021

Ceramic, bullet casings, and copper wire

Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; purchased jointly by the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York, with funds from the Painting and Sculpture Committee, the Wilfred P. and Rose J. Cohen Purchase Fund, the John I. H. Baur Purchase Fund, and the Tom Armstrong Purchase Fund; and the National Gallery of Canada, Ottawa

This haunting sculpture of a figure enshrouded in a blanket evokes the violence perpetuated by humans. An individual presence is implied through the draping of a duvet cover that marks the contours of a body, but the ceramic medium belies the suggested softness and warmth. Thousands of empty bullet casings surround the hollow form, creating an unsettling image and acting as a barrier between the object and viewer.

Rebecca Belmore has stated about the piece: “In some way the work carries an emptiness. But at the same time, because it’s a standing figure, I’m hoping that the work contains some positive aspects of this idea that we need to try to deal with violence.” The sculpture also points to the precarity of Earth itself and the criticality of our current moment. “Everything we use to make our lives is of the earth,” Belmore continues, “no matter how far removed its lineage. We are makers, who destroy and make again.” The title of the work, ishkode, means “fire” in Anishinaabemowin.
