There shouldn't be any missing posts! DM me any posts that you should have received but didn't and I can take a look. Unfortunately the bluesky app itself is responsible for deciding what to do when it opens a link to a post, so that definitely could have been something they changed recently

I've seen one of the bluesky developers post about #2, they're aware and looking into it I bet #1 will happen eventually, but for me at least it was trickier than expected. I wouldn't be surprised if it takes them a few months to get that working.

Bluesky officially has post notifications! BlueNotify will continue to operate for the foreseeable future, but for those of you who don't like having a separate app, now you don't need to have it.

Depending on what kind of phone you have, in your settings app if you find Bluesky you can check if there's an option to open links with it. On my android it's Settings -> Apps -> Bluesky -> Open By default and I can choose whether the app opens bluesky links or if they should open in a web browser

Have you tried pressing the "Force Resync" button (or editing any of your notification settings) since moving to the new phone? That should be enough to cause the phone to re-register itself for notifications.

Not currently. I can think more about adding this, but some people find the app in its current state too complicated, and I think this may make it too hard for some people. But I'll think about it and see if there's any nice way of adding this that won't confuse people!

As far as I know, it's super easy for ME to do this app because I can do whatever I want. The official team has a much harder job because they have to figure out how to do it in a way that integrates into atproto (that bsky runs on), which is a huge system that everybody has to agree on.

Everything is back to normal! I'm still not sure what the source of the networking issue was, but it was a great fire drill and BlueNotify is running on the original server again. As far as I can tell, zero notifications were lost despite the issues!

Thank god I wrote the code to be distributed and able to run parts on other computers in an emergency if needed. That is working perfectly fine - it's just spooky to have it run on my home PC. Anyway, service will continue as usual while I try to figure out what's going on with the main server.

For those interested: My server can't connect to the bluesky API anymore! It might be temporary network issues on bluesky's side, or possibly an issue with my web host. Fortunately, my home internet can connect fine. Currently all notifications are being sent from my home computer. 😬

For the past two hours, most notifications on BlueNotify weren't sending. Sorry for the sudden burst of notifications! All missed notifications were sent all at once when I brought the system back online. It looks like no notifications were missed in the process.

If anybody has any issues let me know! The app is totally free and I run it as a public service. It's pretty stable and notifications usually get sent out within less than a second from when a post is made. It's actually faster than bluesky's own notifications!

You can test if it works for you by temporarily following @bluenotifytestuser.bsky.social and turning on notifications for it. This is a bot I made to post every 5 minutes for exactly this situation (and then unfollow it so your timeline doesn't have these pop up every 5 minutes!)

I just checked in the bluenotify database and I don't see any accounts that are following moonarcadia.app.wafrn.net.ap.brid.gy It may not have saved properly? If you can try going into the settings tab and tapping "Send Error Report to Developer" it will send your logs to me so I can troubleshoot!

This would probably require actually logging in via bluesky I have avoided doing this until now for safety reasons (hackers can't get BlueNotify user's passwords if it doesn't save your password!) But now bluesky has a way for apps to login without sharing your password, and I can look into this

If anything doesn't work correctly, it's probably a formatting error or typo, just try again and be careful to not changing anything when you copy it over (including uppercase letters!)
