It's Hakeem Jefferies, so "maximum warfare" = "talking about kitchen table issues" because... that will show them. Expect endless hearings about the price of eggs

Liberals going "oh, I guess you're right" and acquiescing to deregulation and the dismantling of the federal government for the part 50 years is exactly how we got to this fucked up place.
000
BlueGrin @bluegrin.bsky.social · 23/04/2026
Besides which, you're in denial about the extent to which 'liberals' have kowtowed to the concern trolling (See: the entire careers of Chuck schumer and Bill Clinton) and watered down otherwise effective policies. All they do is "appreciate" those negative effects. To our detriment.

BlueGrin @bluegrin.bsky.social · 23/04/2026
We have plenty of examples of that bad faith weaponization (welfare queens, super predators, Joe the Plumber) and you think that I'm the one in denial? You've absorbed the propaganda and can't conceive that maybe the conservative movement wasn't honest about the net effects of bureaucracy?

BlueGrin @bluegrin.bsky.social · 22/04/2026
And most of those "fuckups" are limited, and pale in context to the good resulting from the related policies. But they are taken out of context and weaponized in bad faith - pointing out that "liberals underappreciate" the effects is a way of accepting and amplifying that bad faith.

The hypocrisy that you claim that *he* has bad facts when you fail a basic literacy test of what he said is pretty comical. It invalidates the entire premise of your piece, but cognitive dissonance is going to prevent you from ever seeing that.

Piker didn't claim that Einstein was against Zionism. He claimed that Einstein was opposed to the violent, fascist right wing elements of it. And you spend almost 2000 bad faith words building a strawmen. Have you no shame?

30 years since my own uncle passed; Pearl Jam's "Smile" ('I miss you already, I miss you always') still brings big ugly tears. Find out later that the lyrics were just a bunch of improvised gibberish and it always helps remind me to snap out of it.

Because there's the macro NYC as a whole, and the neighborhoods themselves. So having luxury housing makes a gentrified neighborhood more desirable, increasing local demand faster than supply and jacking up rents in the downmarket Apts, and pushing longterm residents out of their homes.

I don't disagree. But part of doing better than "fine" is recognizing when things are improving so we can do more of it... instead of saying "Things aren't getting better fast enough so let's go in the other direction."

(Also, that was the dynamic for the Biden vibecession. In this case, I'm not so certain that there really are any inflation related gains. I don't doubt vibecession, but if those gains don't trickle, that's an explanation on its own)

BlueGrin @bluegrin.bsky.social · 14/04/2026
Plus, they see increasing inflation as external, but--as Rugged Individualist Murricans™ are wont to do--think that inflation related pay increases are 100% their own merit. Which just exacerbates the dynamic.

BlueGrin @bluegrin.bsky.social · 14/04/2026
People don't really understand relative rates? So if they make 10% more but things cost 8% more, they're angry that they can't get the full benefit of their well earned 10% pay increase, even if they're better off than they were before.

One of those problems is the timidity of Dems and the readiness of the leadership to roll over and give up with "Well, you have a point..." Fight the fight you're in. Once he was nommed, we shouldn't have given ground. Just like now, hammering on "Abolish Ice" is how we fight. Don't give an inch.

So much of that 83% is due to industrialized corn production (with its own attendant problems) that there is a cost to the efficiency of our current diet of crops. It's an error to just point at that and simply draw a conclusion about livestock v plants.

It's one of the few albums that I had on cassette and never replaced with a cd. But what I do remember is that it was the first (or maybe second, after "Rocket" on Hysteria) album where I recognized back masking and figured out how to reverse a cassette to decipher the words.

If it's OK to keep Bonds and Rose out, it's perfectly fine to ding him for cheating and delay his election Beyond spygate, he spent a lot of time during his career violating the spirit-if-not-the-letter of the rules. Can't whine about it because voters do the same when considering his candidacy.

You really are dumb as a box of rocks, aren't you? You're trying to contradict me by spitting what I just said back at me. I literally just said that he won because he "was promising to deliver us from Bushes failures." It's the fucking post you're replying to.
And for the record, his victory probably had more to do with "shut up and vote for us or you'll get the incompetent buffoons who brought you the financial crisis" than it did any specific promises, but I'm sure you know that, right?
110
BlueGrin @bluegrin.bsky.social · 28/01/2026
So your example is something he didn't say (go after bankers), something he couldn't do (close gitmo), something he didn't mean (pull out of middle east), and the same promise that every president has made since Clinton (FOCA) Like I said it's a rorschach, you saw what you wanted not what was there

LOL @ turbo leftist, you're as off-base in your description of me as your caricature of Barack. I don't hate Obama, I know several people who worked in his White House and would vote for him again in a hearbeat. I just recognize him for who he is, and draw my conclusions based on facts.

(His platform was really no different from Kamala's, or Biden's or Hillary's in the level of specificity, nor appreciably different from Schumer and Jefferies advocacy for "kitchen table" issues. Anyone saying otherwise has rose-colored glasses)
000
BlueGrin @bluegrin.bsky.social · 28/01/2026
Oh he was, was he? What specific things did he promise that caused you to vote for him? You speak with a lot of authority for someone who was 9 years old at the time.
200
BlueGrin @bluegrin.bsky.social · 28/01/2026
"vague promise of hope" isn't promising anything and that is the problem. He was always milquetoast. That's exactly the Loser Dem Energy that Jefferies and Schumer are trying to emulate, they just don't have the Shepard Fairey rorschach to do the heavy lifting.
