I came up with an interesting numeral system that can theoretically encode large numbers in significantly fewer digits than regular numbers. The strategy is to have the base of each place value increase exponentially.

It would be interesting if the US turns out to be the only large country with permanent left wing control because of demographics other than maybe China. We do have large countries with right-leaning control like Japan and maybe India (depending on definitions), but not many leftist ones.

I don't pray very often but one thing I do pray is that Republicans never win a federal majority again because every time they had the presidency,, there have been scandals, more hate, and cuts to programs people need. Not to mention Republicans are the lower moral rung of our society.

That's too low. In 2012 and 2016 we had a nearly 40% advantage for Democrats. But the good news is polls usually underestimate Democratic support from nonwhite voters. And we saw election results saying it will be higher.

I don’t think we, as a country, are prepared for the electoral consequences of swing state Texas and then blue state Texas. Georgia is likely to be a blue state in 2028 especially if Democrats win the governor race there and the other statewide offices.

Trump only won in 2024 because of the economy and imbalanced enthusiasm. Kamala Harris got more votes than Trump did in 2020 even with that difference. So with more demographic change, a more right wing GQP electorate, and a higher propensity Democratic electorate, that couldn't happen.

The big difference between conservatives in other countries versus the US in general is even with shared religion and nostalgia for mostly mythical pasts, the American conservatives are far more likely to be detached from reality.

The real reason we have an electoral college historically (other than skepticism of democracy, which was a major part of it) was in 1800, it was a lot harder to travel across the country even though it didn't expand west yet. There wasn't as much technology to count the votes.

The right wing candidate in Brazil, Flavio Bolsonaro, son of the former president Jair Bolsonaro (sound familiar?), is on track to lose based on early vote tabulations, though it will likely go to a runoff. Mexico and Brazil will likely be the countries resisting right wing shifts in LatAm most.

The context I was saying this in is Latino voters have never locked in for Democrats in the way Black voters did. I think in 2026 we will see changes in Latino voting patterns in turnout and going back to the 2012-2018 voting patterns, which could be enough to doom Republicans but still.

One thing that is interesting about voters by demographic is Black voters have taken the threat of Republican racism seriously more than anyone else. In fact they took it more seriously before Trump made them become relatively open about it. I think it has to do with suffering racism ON THIS LAND.

The biggest threat for Republicans long term demographically is not white population decline but also they are losing ground over time with almost every demographic outside of certain highly religious groups over the past few decades.

I've been thinking about how much discrimination there is in workplaces with hiring practices. What I mean is saying "you need this experience or this degree" when it's not necessary to perform the job. It's discriminatory because it's objectifying people based on things that don't usually matter!

One fact about our government and society is that Republicans are overrepresented among the people who CAN vote for demographic reasons, even as Democrats have closed the gap among eligible voters with turnout and maybe even outperform. So Republicans are more unpopular than election results show.

I'm not necessarily saying everyone should be able to vote. Instead I am saying that all three populations which are forbidden from voting, are Democratic-leaning. (Having basically every adult able to vote is why we are in this mess.)

What I mean is voting age minimums, citizenship barriers, and sometimes felony disenfranchisement block Democratic-leaning groups from voting. The only solution for this is to wait. They will still be overrepresented, but it won't change the total results even if it changes the margins.
