I am registering for California's PDI vote tracker. I am excited to see the updates. (I selected the state and the top three turnout bellwether counties.) Last year, California saw record-breaking Democratic turnout, and believe it or not, the largest registered Democrat turnout edge recorded.

We know this based on voter surveys and precinct data. Even though I couldn't find a similar specific data for Latinos, the pattern is clearer for Asian Americans. Cultural assimilation can actually strengthen group identities indirectly.

For some reason Kathy Hochul seems unpopular given the result in 2022 and polls showing her underperforming. New York needs to vote for her even though she's very likely to win anyway because the alternative is not a progressive. It is the opposite of one.

In the UK, there has been a debate on whether or not immigrants and people of colour who have ancestry outside of England can be English (or British). The overwhelming majority of Britain, even on the right, rejects even flirting with the idea of "all white Britain".

I've thought about the "revolutionary" movement in France. I think a lot of why so much of France is relatively comfortable with doing things that are unthinkable in America and probably most countries is having revolutions accomplish things, and also we have more strictness in many ways.

This type of turnout is why I think 2026 could see House Democrats get more votes than they did in 2024. Because this is unprecedented. We see this in other states: Democratic turnout is breaking records in a cycle where fewer people plan to vote early.
