It’s a mystery to me why mismanagement and environmental pollution on this scale doesn’t result in prosecutions. At the very least let them go bust and be renationalised. Better yet, the investors who have taken profits should be made to pay the costs of the Govt sorting their mess out for them. 1/2

In a similar vein I have no interest in reading about or watching people from opposite ends of a political or ideological spectrum having dinner together to talk about their particular points of view. This requires spending at least 50% of the time reading or listening to something objectionable.

I only know one person who has admitted to voting for Brexit (I’m in Scotland) and he immediately regretted it as soon as the result was announced. He said it was a protest vote against Cameron’s Conservative government. I know that as a sample that doesn’t tell us anything but there it is.

I subscribe to @theguardian.com and @the-independent.com mainly to read @mrjamesob.bsky.social and @iandunt.bsky.social . Some of the inews stuff is terrible though. One always lives in hope with The Guardian but it has been a bit meh of late. Substack is a good source for indy journos I find.

#BBCNews Why pose the headline this way with this question? The news editors could just as easily say “US public executions met with widespread horror and opprobrium“ or similar. This phrasing minimises the real story and obscures the widespread reaction. BBC News has fallen a long way.

Ed Davey is the best thing about the LibDems. He was right about the Brexit, the care system and standing up to Trump and Reform when Labour were kowtowing. If they get rid of him - for what 🤷‍♂️ - it will be the end of them. He is a good man. If he was more red he would be leading Labour right now.

I don’t imagine Putin cares much about that if Trump can benefit him in the oil power wars. Anyway Putin is a customer of Iran for Shahed drones. That doesn’t mean they are allies. It’s a long game for Putin.
