I like certain types of crime dramas but it seems most of them revel in showing horrible sex crimes against women. That's not entertainment to me. I like the very realistic, gritty ones especially if based on true life. I just finished one about Roger Rogerson who was a horrid corrupt Sydney cop.

There's much more to it than that. The word has become tainted unfortunately and the people who use it as an insult aren't always wrong. It needs to go back to the original meaning which was related to awareness of racism but it probably won't.

At least it's not humid. I *despise* Sydney weather from December-March. And Brisbane makes me want to die.

I think things changed a lot from the 90s onward. I was there mostly in the 2000s and there were a lot of African immigrants. I noticed because we had not many here in Sydney back then. Still don't, but there are more.

The proposed conversion practices legislation is getting a lot of attention in the UK - rightly so. In Australia it sailed through with little attention or understanding. In my State it was rushed through at something like 2.00am. This is the strategy specifically outlined by TRAs (see Dentons doc).

Just noticed it's largely government funded. About a 1/3 of the paper comprises pleas to urgently restrict Australian's freedom of speech even further and to increase sanctions. I really hope this crappy research backfires big time. It's not that I want trans people to have bad mental health (!)
