BlockSky 3.4.0 released! Blocking just got a lot faster for people with large block lists. A blocking run that could previously take ~5,300 requests before the first block now takes about 12. And importantly: performance no longer gets worse as your block list grows. 🚀

We found something interesting while investigating reports from BlockSky users with large blocklists. The reported issue was profiles taking forever to load or not loading at all. We found BlockSky was checking your entire blocklist before loading a profile. 1/4

A block is just a record being created on your account. That can be done even if one already exists. That’s likely what’s happening here. Notifications are sent each time a record is created.

Just to clarify: Blocksky does not cycle blocks. Blocksky can block accounts, but it has no functionality to unblock accounts Whatever caused the repeated blocking, unblocking, and re-blocking described in Bluesky's suspension notice could not have been Blocksky alone.

Update: Quick Login (OAuth) is working normally again. ✅ Earlier today, our connection to Bluesky’s login service was dropped, causing some logins to hang. We shipped a change so future issues fail quickly with a clear message instead of hanging App Password login remains available

Seems like Eurosky has same/similar rate limits as Bluesky. After ~1000 blocks, the PDS appears to temporarily throttle requests, which can cause BlockSky to stop or throw an error until the limit clears. Not a BlockSky-specific issue, these limits are enforced by their respective platoforms.
