I still need to separate myself from some of the old questions, ex: scaling and scoping a game doesn't matter as much when I'm mostly noodling with one mechanic. I've spent like three days going between Individually Crafted Hero Roster vs Characters Built From Choices. That doesn't actually matter.

Game design going forward in my life is much more chill with way fewer goals, but that question is where my game thoughts are. Pommel Ball targets the swing of gaining advantage in a sports game or Smash Bros, Deadly Kobold Racing targets planning your route and reacting to changes on it.

Due to Baby Sleep, I've been playing more retro videogames and that's been very nice. I'm very interested in finding where board games can play out (and sometimes intentionally slow down) some of the moments that feel great on the screen without losing excitement.

One of the design goals for this has become the idea that I'd like to play it with my oldest. She can play games with depth and strategy, but I dont want like... deep tactics levels of mental load to be needed at game start. Complication can ramp in play (Legacy style and in each game)

Players that are flung off are entered into a Rescue Deck in order of falling off, with probably one player being saved each round. So if you knock off a bunch of players in one round, you've got a Hockey style Power Play opportunity.

Ive been struggling with "how do I make hits feel impactful" and I had settled on progressive hits in a round pushing players further. But then... Does it reset? Can players be KOed? Mycurrent idea is that the stadiums have no walls and that players can be flung off of it temporarily.

I'm not planning to do a Big Time project in the near future, but I've had some ideas I'm liking. I'm hoping to use some commercial use/editable pixel art to get a single visual style and then basically put out a pamphlet size rules with printable cards in first half of 2026.

To be clear, this isn't snarky at all. This shows me I made something that hit it's genre well enough to support the idea that mechanics shape and improve play and I'm extraordinarily proud of that. Same goes for the "But you COULD run it in PdlP and wouldn't that be wild?!?" posts. I love them.

I feel extraordinarily blessed that when I ego search Pasión de las Pasiones i see people looking forward to, playing, and enjoying it. I feel sincerely even more blessed when I get to see Pasión de las Pasiones used as an example of off-genre play (ex: you wouldn't play a dungeon crawl in PdlP)
