Shadow tilts his head and tuts.

Blaze reels back in confusion.
"Are you serious?" she questions him.

"Always" Shadow responds, self-assured as always.

Blaze leans against the counter, tail wagging in frustration.
"I'll see what I can do." she sighs.

Later, Blaze slams a mug of coffee beans onto the counter.

Shadow looks at the mug in utter glee, tentatively grabbing the handle.

immediately he slams a few rings on the counter.

Pleased, he holds the mug.

And immediately disappears, startling Blaze again.

Alone again, she leans against the counter.

Rain battering against the window outside.

A rainy day, and Blaze the cat somberly stares out the window her titular shop, Blaze the Cafe. Rain patters against the window as two strangers pass by on their daily rounds.

Idle in the shop, Blaze leans on one arm, tail swishing from side-to-side.

Without warning Shadow the Hedgehog suddenly chaos snaps into the store, startling the cat.

Without warning he clutches a fist and turns to face her:
"You sell coffee, RIGHT?" he demands.

Blaze is confused at the sudden appearance of the brooding hedgehog Blaze tilts her head.
"Correct" she replies.

"Not watered down like the other places here?" he questions her.

"Just coffee" she sheepishly smiles, flicking a wrist.

Pleased, he folds his arms and nods
"Perfect."

Shortly, Blaze presents him a cup of coffee- though Shadow reels back in horror at the brew
"WHAT IS THAT?!!!" he shrieks.

A bead of sweat runs down her brow.

Pleading her case, Blaze shrugs
"You haven't even-"

"This isn't coffee. PATHETIC." Shadow interrupts her, scowling.

Blaze is offended by the affront to her craft, growling to herself.

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN?! IT IS COFFEE!?" she snaps.

A spark of orange light floods the shop as the barista turns to face the fraudulent customer.

“With pleasure.” It’s Blaze. A flame ignites in her hand, as merciless eyes pierce through the hawk.
Jet’s confidence disappears in an instant. “Wait-” he sputters. “WHAT THE-?!” he cries as he raises his hands to his chest in fearful disbelief.
Blaze leaps at her prey, hands trailing with fire. Jet helplessly screams with no time to escape.

Mid afternoon in Seaside city, a few patrons enjoy their drinks and food at Blaze the Café. Amy Rose stands behind the counter, replacing the batteries in one of the smoke detectors (a necessity with the owner’s tendencies towards flames).

Blaze the Cat steps up to the counter; holding a slip of paper and looking concerned.
“Amy, none of this makes sense,” she complains.

Amy looks away from the smoke detector as Blaze taps the sheet of paper with the back of her palm.

Blaze continues, “Numerous payments were refunded, how does someone refund coffee?”

Amy deflects with a shrug. “Oh, don't worry about it,” she says, believing that the two have more pressing matters than money.

Blaze looks up from the paper, staring straight towards Amy with a furrowed brow.
“Well, I am already worrying about it.”

Backing her words, Blaze holds up the paper to Amy. It's a bank statement with two rejected transactions circled in red marker. “In fact, these all came from the same account.” she elaborates. “Someone called ‘Babbyrogue.’”

“Oh! That's okay!” Amy points towards Blaze with her index fingers, a wide toothy grin pulled across her face. Her confidence is betrayed by the bead of sweat running down from her brow.

Unimpressed, Blaze places her hands behind her back and steps the opposite way across the shop floor. Scrutinous eyes trained on her hedgehog co-worker.
“It's not ‘okay’, it's theft,” she states, with the authority with which she would address a minister back home.

Meanwhile Amy, doing her best to be non-chalant, inspects the inside of a cup, holding it up to the light. She’s hesitant to risk making matters worse by saying too much.

Blaze turns back towards the counter at Amy, who avoids her gaze.
“I…” she stammers.

Blaze crosses her arms, expecting her to elaborate.

Amy dips her head and glances hesitantly towards Blaze. “It's Jet,” she finally mutters.

“He comes here?” Blaze inquires, having never seen the hawk herself.
Amy folds her arms, “When I'm on shift.”

“I see,” the cat growls, folding her arms even tighter.

“I didn't want to make a scene!” Amy pleads, knowing full well Blaze's temper is about to fire up.

Blaze crushes the bank statement in her hand, “I'll give you a scene,” she snarls.

The statement bursts into flames, the embers drifting off into the distance. She locks eyes with Amy as the flames roar in her palm

Later in the day, as the daylight ebbs away above Blaze the Café, a silhouette approaches. It’s unmistakably Jet the Hawk, riding his custom extreme gear hoverboard: the Type-J.

Jet sets the board against one of the palm trees outside the café and lifts his goggles from his eyes, curiously scanning the inside of the shop.

“Looks quiet. Eh, whatever,” he squawks.

The bird slams open the shop door with a loud thud. A smug grin spans across his beak.“Did’jya miss me?” he shouts, adding to the cacophony of his entrance.

The shadowy figure behind the counter is hard to make out in the evening light, but Jet assumes from past experience that it’s probably Amy. She has her back turned away from him, cleaning
the inside of a mug. Jet lets out an amused chuckle, “Heh.”

He struts boldly towards the counter, basking in his own glory. “Make way for Legendary Wind Rider,” he proclaims, pointing towards himself with a smarmy smile.
