Been struggling a lot with the protagonist. When I make them a fish out of water, I want to bludgeon the audience with exposition. When I make them a local, I struggle to make them positive and fun, or I get them too involved with the backstory. Still looking for my fix.

Been doing some work on a story of mine. Epoch Correction, yeah. Been kicking that around for a few years. Endless revisons and restarts. Comm'd out some stuff with Zell. She's been showing bits and pieces on the her account. Will my dreamn VN come together? I need to get these poor girls free!

It's Faust! She's my introduction to elven faith and intended to be a romanceable heroine. She has a tremendous amount of generosity that somewhat makes up for her superiority complex. She lives and breathes noblesse oblige

Last visit for yesterday. A hoy spring town? Ginzan. Wow. Very pretty area. Otherworldly, even. Beautiful and sophisticated. I wish my phone was better at night shots. The first look coming in is very high in my ratings for best shot of the trip

A shot of Ginza from the bridge. A lot of light pollution in the shot, unfortunately. I gotta get a proper camera if I want to do more of this

Blade_Hacksaw, Casual Vtuber @bladehacksaw.bsky.social · 12/10/2026

Then we made a small stop at a village ruin. Alas, it was very late, and our guide had us abandon the mountain climb as soon as the sun had set. Also I have learned that my phone is not great at night shots

After Yamadera we headed through a 1-car-lane pass with no signal. Very rural. Eventually we made our way to a gorge and splashed around in there

Blade_Hacksaw, Casual Vtuber @bladehacksaw.bsky.social · 12/10/2026

Okay! Yesterday's adventure. The most Japanese experience so far, Yamadera Temple. Built into a mountain. 1000 steps up and down, ahah Tried posting these yesterday but we were traveling in low infrastructure area, little internet

Blade_Hacksaw, Casual Vtuber @bladehacksaw.bsky.social · 11/10/2026

Huge adventure today, but too tired to bother with alt text descriptions. Tomorrow

Blade_Hacksaw, Casual Vtuber @bladehacksaw.bsky.social · 11/10/2026

Lots of pictures but net us bad right now. Went down a 1 lane into rural Japan, lost internet. We're about to go deeper and explore a japanese ruin as the sun goes down. This IS a horror setup! If I don't post in 4 hours, I have been killed by yokai or at least trapped by a landslide

Blade_Hacksaw, Casual Vtuber @bladehacksaw.bsky.social · 11/10/2026

Exploring Yamagata a bit today. Great view from the 24th floor of a department store. Whole city is in a valley. We drove through some long tunnels through the mountain to get here. Visited a bakery for breakfast. Got myself an almond croissant helllllll yeah

Had a lovely day, though it was mostly travel. Sounds like tomorrow is the big doing stuff day. Looking forward to it! Sadly, I prepped for a 1 day hike, not a 3 day adventure. I want to veg out and play bideo game for an hour😭alas

Blade_Hacksaw, Casual Vtuber @bladehacksaw.bsky.social · 10/10/2026

National park time! (I missed the name). We've got sulfur vents, big rocks, huge valleys, we're above the cloud cover, and this huuuuge crater. Very cool.

000

Blade_Hacksaw, Casual Vtuber @bladehacksaw.bsky.social · 10/10/2026

First really nice stop. Lots of apple and pear groves leading up to this, very pretty. Getting a lot of sulphur smell! Approaching the volcano👀👀👀

Blade_Hacksaw, Casual Vtuber @bladehacksaw.bsky.social · 10/10/2026

Travelling south, big trip. Rest stops have been very generic forest stuff, just like Virginia. Tons of valleys and mountains, feels like home (ignoring the architecture). Here's my first stop with a nice view

Overlook of a valley in Japan. That area below the parking lot is a railway, just saw a train go past

Blade_Hacksaw, Casual Vtuber @bladehacksaw.bsky.social · 10/10/2026

Hah! Oh my! I just got a printout of the itinerary. What did I actually stumble into? This is a 3 day trip and they're just letting me on for free! What the heck? I'm just taking some guy's spot who slept in. We're going to Tokyo!

020

Blade_Hacksaw, Casual Vtuber @bladehacksaw.bsky.social · 09/10/2026

Huzzah! It appears everything is going to be fine. But my one day hike just turned into an overnight stay exploring a volcano? I think? Expect pictures

120

Blade_Hacksaw, Casual Vtuber @bladehacksaw.bsky.social · 09/10/2026

Mmm. Sure am driving a long time. Uhhh so this is an overnight stay type thing and I can make it work but if I am not welcome here things are going to get WEIRD

000

Blade_Hacksaw, Casual Vtuber @bladehacksaw.bsky.social · 09/10/2026

Oh! Uh, I have made a fucky wucky. I just got on a van for a hiking trip, only to realize I have come here on the wrong date. We've driven for a while and I don't want to disturb our JP driver. Will ask if it's okay when we come to a stop. I can get a taxi home if neccessary. Very embarassing

Blade_Hacksaw, Casual Vtuber @bladehacksaw.bsky.social · 09/10/2026

Episode done! Think I'm at a good point, will do a little synopsis and thoughts in the alt text of the attached. Yummy 2000 characters.

So, that was episode 11 of 26. The plot has really inched along at a glacial pace to this point, focusing instead of building the world and characters. This episode seems like a turning point though. A lot of new characters introduced, with some more insight into the antagonist.

Van and Wendy haven't really changed, though their relationship has. Van started as a really stand-offish character, but this episode he spent almost all of it looking for Wendy instead of pursuing his goal. But we have a big change at the end. Wendy's brother Michael seems to have fully bought into the plot presented by the antagonist, The Claw/The Comrade. Michael rejects Wendy and his past in blind, pure adoration of his new leader.

So even though we have this nice moment of Van really caring for someone like we've never seen before, it's instantly dropped once Van finds out that Wendy's brother is working for The Claw. He becomes the revenge obsessed sword that he always becomes when that man is brought up, and he's pretty vicious to Wendy. "Why didn't you ask about him!" He demands, even though Wendy just got told to fuck off by her own flesh and blood.

Michael tells Wendy to go home. Van tells Wendy to go home. And of course she's devastated. But the sentiment isn't wrong. There's only a discussion here because of anime bullshit. Wendy is a baby with no skills. The episode before this hammered that home. Her sole value was being a person of common sense and practicality saving weirdo man-failure Van. But Carmen is almost always present and she's hyper competent, and if not for her we still have Joshua. Joshua doesn't have Wendy's sensibilities (he charged into a women's bathroom to look for Wendy this episode) but he has a degree of people skills that Van lacks, and of course he's a valuable little tech nerd.

So yeah. Wendy should go home. Besides sentimentality, we're just kind of dragging a little girl into gun/sword/mecha fights. It's supposed to be sad, but I dunno man

010

Blade_Hacksaw, Casual Vtuber @bladehacksaw.bsky.social · 09/10/2026

Extremely slight Gun X Sword spoilers Hah, they're doing that thing where she finally meets who she's been looking for and then a train passes and they're gone, okay, whatever. OH! OH GIRL NO WHAT ARE YOU DOING Nice trope dodge. Wendy doesn't get enough character moments, good to see.

111

Blade_Hacksaw, Casual Vtuber @bladehacksaw.bsky.social · 04/10/2026

Well, that's probably enough. You get the idea. Villain of the week stuff, though episode 7 seems like a turning point. It all seems very solid, I just don't love it. I think the core cast needed a little more help. The Wendy/Vann dynamic is okay. The fights are over so FAST though, goodness

020

Blade_Hacksaw, Casual Vtuber @bladehacksaw.bsky.social · 04/10/2026

Episode 3 breaks the trends, stepping back from Wendy and Vann to give some new characters the stage. They're fun but it is an odd segue. Assuming we see more of them since they're in SRW, but who knows?

New episode, new villain. Crazy mad scientist type out for revenge against the town for some? reason?

Idiot guards shooting at a towering mech. Yeah guys, keep at it, you got this.

New friend, El Dorado, a combining mech piloted by a bunch of old guys.

Leader of the old guys, don't remember his name. Liked his JP VA a lot though.

110

Blade_Hacksaw, Casual Vtuber @bladehacksaw.bsky.social · 04/10/2026

Episode 2 introduces Carmen, a recurring ally, and continues to reinforce themes. We're definitely a monster of the week show. Wendy has kind of stapled herself onto Vann as he goes on his super vengeance murder quest. Mech pilots continue to be crazy weirdos.

110

Blade_Hacksaw, Casual Vtuber @bladehacksaw.bsky.social · 04/10/2026

Episode 1 was very episode 1. Establish the world and characters. 0 exposition too, all very natural. We get our first view of mechs and their pilots in this wasteland world. A lot of themes and moments being introduced.

Got around to watching some anime. I liked these guys in Super Robot Wars and wanted to check it out. I'm 7 episodes in and it's fine. I'm not crazy about it but it's been interesting. Feels a bit like Trigun or Gurren Lagann, though it came out a year prior to GL.

Shot of the main characters of Gun X Sword. Vann is a grim faced dude in a black suit. Wendy is a baby faced kid who's along for the ride.

Did my first stream in forever. That was cool. Been very into Rift Wizard 3 lately. Apparently the dev dropped by, that was sick. Had a good run. Played a build I understood, got my worm/dark/fire build to pop off. Thanks to all the crew that swung by, appreciate it!

I thought I was going to get so much done on the weekend. Instead, sick mode. Got a nice 16 hour sleep in and I was good, but that did account for most of the weekend. Got a little Rift Wizard 3. Messed around with the worm spell. That's pretty good

I should do things again. Been very sedentary lately. Not, like, physically. God, I'm working hard. But, like, after work I just kind of exist, sleep and repeat. I've been back for how long? 3 months? Man. I gotta do stuff again

Feeling a little better these days. Things aren't improving, but I think I'm acclimating to my normal lifestyle again. I went from a mentality of, "this sucks, there's no way I can do this for 8 more years," to, "eh, this isn't so bad."

Been thinking of trying to un-V my tuber. It would be nice to be more expressive, without going into the huge deep dive that is a dramatic model upgrade. Kinda scary, though. It's not like you can just go back, right?

Been trying to go to bed after work and wake up early, have more alert and productive hours. I have instead slept about 10 or so hours, every day. I set an alarm today, woke up, said, "fuck that" and went back to bed. Hrmm. Rest stat go up but fun and creativity stat go down. Sim Blade is struggle

Still very sucked into FF14. Been wanting to do a video on the ARR experience, but felt I was under-qualified to tell the full story. Been doing lots of research. This includes the slow level of all classes to 50. That is taking a while. But hey, look at my little psycho fit, that's nice

It's Friday baybeeee! Almost made it to the weekend. Nothing crazy in Blade land. Figuring stuff out. Think I'm gonna do a weekend only stream schedule, with rare and random guerillas on the weekday. My ass is busy, man. Also, FF14 progress. Almost at Ishgard, I think (finally)

I just did my first playthrough of A Realm Reborn and I definitely have some strong, negative opinions about the quality of the story and its execution. There were only a handful of redeeming moments and they were few and far between. It's been tough getting through it.
