This reminds me that 2XKO has the option to let you play with someone as your assist character instead of controlling both characters yourself However, there is no way to queue up with strangers at random. You have to be with a friend or ask someone in the lobby, which I feel misses the point

I like the "Dont judge products by the tools used to make them" Like "yeah, I robbed 3 people and killed someone in order to make this painting, but it looks good, right? There was just no other way to get Paintbrushes and paint"

Silly voice aside, it actually be kinda cool if everyone spoke their native language, but Ingrid was the only one who got a different VA for every language the game was translated into

I think there was a single month where 3 adaptations of "War of the Worlds" all released in the same time frame

That was my first thought. Best part is thinking 'yeah I can sell this and pay for my next AI tokens!' I'd buy the friends might hop on ONCE but no one else has any reason to buy that garbage

Bladebrent @bladebrent.bsky.social · 10/10/2026
My favorite part about this is them thinking anyone else would want to play this game based specifically on their life when, in their world, anyone else could do the same game centered on themselves. Friends might hop on once, sure, but anyone else buying it?

I mean given what some "Teen" anime get away with, Skullgirls is pretty in-line with that. Plus, teens are going through puberty I don't know why you're acting like this wouldn't appeal to them. The issue is that they kicked someone cause they had drawn NSFW at one point which is stupid.

Then Psilosybil goes "yeah don't worry, you just need to prove you can do this comfortably to make progress." I'm still dying 40, 50, sometimes 100 times a stage but the game is staying fun. Being more punishing with the checkpoints doesnt make it more satisfying to beat the level.

Bladebrent @bladebrent.bsky.social · 09/10/2026
It especially stands out cause Mina will literally put checkpoints rooms AWAY from the boss fight, and the fact there's a modifier that puts them right outside the fight but it disables achievements tells me the devs thought the needless re-treading somehow added to the fun

Bladebrent @bladebrent.bsky.social · 09/10/2026
Playing Psilosybil is interesting cause despite the game being known for being extremely difficult (and it is), the game somehow puts the checkpoints at JUST the perfect distance so I'm not replaying a section too many times This is after Mina the Hollower always felt it put the checkpoints too far

Me when I try to explain hit confirming into a charged 214HS so you can do an in instant overhead into a full-combo with a quickhack super for an extension is not an easy game plan to intuit unless you already play fighting games.

The thing is, they didnt submit NSFW art. One of the rules for the contest was 'no nsfw' which I think is valid. Full-on nudity would be a silly thing to have for an art contest thats being featured on their main account. But thats not what happened. Its just they drew NSFW on a different account.

Oh btw, the nitter .cf link is just something so you dont need a twitter account to read the page. just swap X .com with it to do that

Bladebrent @bladebrent.bsky.social · 09/10/2026
Lets be more specific, they were disqualified because they, at one point, drew NSFW art. The submission itself was not even NSFW art, it was just that they did NSFW in the past. Heres the source to my understanding nitter.cf/parta_228/st...

Sorry, can you explain to me whats going on? According to the website, it just says you can't submit sexual or NSFW stuff; not that they banned people just cause they, at one point, drew NSFW.
The Contest rules for this years Skullgirls Halloween Context

CONTEST RULES

Create an original piece of Skullgirls artwork inspired by the Dark Carnival theme.
Your interpretation of “Dark Carnival” can be as literal or imaginative as you want. Creepy circuses, haunted carnivals, sideshows, funhouses, performers, carnival games, costumes, posters, and other suitably strange ideas are all fair game.
You are not limited to playable characters. Non-playable Skullgirls characters are welcome too!
Entries should remain appropriate for Skullgirls Mobile’s T for Teen rating.
Please avoid graphic gore, explicit depictions of violence, sexual content, or other NSFW material.
AI-generated artwork is not eligible for submission.
We may feature entries and winners on official Skullgirls social channels. Because of this, we cannot accept submissions posted from NSFW social media accounts.
We reserve the right to refuse entries that do not follow the contest rules or spirit of the event.

I feel like the biggest issue with this is they're making it a patent. If this ended up being a fun/cool addition, it would suck that its only locked to one console effectively

Bladebrent @bladebrent.bsky.social · 08/10/2026
I mean when half of League of a ranged character, this'll happen. They made Lux and Ahri more close ranged focus cause of it. The spread of ROLES is pretty even. But there's still way too many Arcane characters (and piltover/zaun by extension)

This is one reason the Animated Mario Movies just look lazy to me. I knew this before hand but the movie turned him into more a snarky a-hole. Riding jerks like that is just easier for humour, and isnt bad by itself, but if its been an idea of the character for that long, don't take the easy route.

Point and click adventure where you're trying to review a game but every time you have to record a bit for it, you have to get some item to stabilize or raise the camera, or find something to demonstrate a point and it leads to you needing to find random objects around your house to do so.

The last time I saw a cheat code in a big release (not indie) was Balan Wonderworld where you could put in a button sequence to unlock a specific costume. Hillariously, this was only done cause the costume was normally gained from playing the demo which was taken down.

Yeah, same. I sometimes see people go "OH THIS LOOKS AWFUL! LOOK AT THOSE FRAME DROPS!" and I legitimately didn't even see anything. The only exception is if the game is legitimately running slower than its supposed to because of garbage its trying to render and the graphics settings dont help.

....Its a turn-based game. What does 60 Frames per second get you? 60 frames of staring at the character's face during teatime?

I didn't play much of DNFDuel as I wasn't huge on the design so I can't comment as much on the specials feeling better, but 2XKO's control scheme definitely takes a bit of getting used to. I think I got used to the two buttons but my hand keeps moving a button over during the match and messing me up

I'll definitely agree on GBVSR. Neither game has good tutorials but GB's was better and it actually had a decent single player mode. I'll kinda disagree about the MvC games but thats only cause they're assist only, and BftG and BBTAG also have good tag mechanics and are better than 2XKO imo.

Mind if I ask you go into more detail on 'what it goes for other games do better?' For me, the game gives the impression of the devs being up their own butt, like they thought a special move button is all casuals need so they don't need anything else to be beginner friendly.

To each their own. I rarely replay games, and if I do, its usually been so long that i'm seeing it with fresh eyes. This doesn't apply to roguelikes cause every run is different. I tend to be less invested if I know what will happen No judgement either way though. Do what you think is fun.

Ones that say they'll grant you a wish but then interrupt you and tell you what your wish is before you say anything so you go "uh okay, more Rockets sounds sick"

Bladebrent @bladebrent.bsky.social · 24/09/2026
Not familiar with Suikoden so that's cool, but it's not enough to offset things. I guess my point is just that they're ridiculously common, but people only ever complain about it in Smash. I like weapon variety but others clearly just want to complain about characters that aren't for them
000
Bladebrent @bladebrent.bsky.social · 24/09/2026
I can still list far far far FAAAAAAAR more games and things with Swordwielding protagonists. Ys, Chrono Trigger, Breath of Fire, Disgaea, .Hack, Persona, Granblue, Neptunia, Blue Reflection, and thats JUST JRPG's. If they don't use a sword, its usually something hand-to-hand or straight up magic.
100
Bladebrent @bladebrent.bsky.social · 24/09/2026
If there's 'multiple protags', then ones gonna use a sword, usually used by the 'front of the box' guy. If we went back to RWBY, theres actually two sword users besides Ruby, but I listed Ruby cause she's the leader. Otherwise, she and Maka wouldn't count either cause Black Star gets a sword later.
000
Bladebrent @bladebrent.bsky.social · 24/09/2026
The thing is most of who you listed are secondary protagonists. Yeah, Dimitri and Edelgard are important to the story, but the LEAD character is Byleth, who uses a sword. Robin also has the Levin sword in Smash which isn't helping. Its why I specified leads
100
Bladebrent @bladebrent.bsky.social · 24/09/2026
Sorry for the tangent but the replacement theory kind of drives me up the wall. As I said, i'm not even sure they legally could have changed the DLC slot that late into development. If it was too early in fact, they could have just given Byleth a completely original kit.
000
Bladebrent @bladebrent.bsky.social · 24/09/2026
Compare Byleth's kit to Korra's in NASB. She has elements locked to each direction, but the last element you used influences your Neutral special, so there's a reason to remember. The only reason I can think to lock a weapon to a direction with Byleth is to draw attention to her not using a sword.
100
Bladebrent @bladebrent.bsky.social · 24/09/2026
If Byleth's kit was initially MonHun's, then wouldn't they want to represent as many weapons as possible? Instead, there's only four. On top of that, from a gameplay standpoint, there's no reason to lock a weapon to a direction. There's no specific benefit to using a lance for example
100
Bladebrent @bladebrent.bsky.social · 24/09/2026
Idk, this absolutely sounds like people just making stuff up and not understanding how this works, because MonHun is tossed to the side like wet tissue paper in the MvCI story. On top of that, Byleth's kit (least to me) is built around drawing attention to the fact they aren't JUST using a sword.

I think at first glance a VR Ace Attorney is cool, til you realize its a remake. If they just did a VR game with a single original case that took advantage of the gimmick, it would've been received much better I think
