The men who look the least sensitive to rejection are usually the ones who feel it worst.

He’s unbothered. He doesn’t chase. He’s got a reputation for being a little cold, maybe a little cruel, and other gays read that as confidence.

Watch what he actually does. He leaves first, every time. He’s never once asked for clarity about where something stands. He goes vague the second a man gets warm with him. He has an exit planned before the first date starts.

That’s not low sensitivity. That’s a man who built an entire personality around never being in the position again.

Here’s the question worth sitting with: how much of your dating behavior is preference, and how much is engineering to make sure rejection can’t reach you? Because the engineering works. You’re rarely rejected. You’re also rarely chosen, because you’ve never let anybody close enough to do it.

The next time you get a no, try one hour of doing nothing. No cruel text, no replacement on the apps, no deciding he was never worth it. Just survive the hour.
