I don’t know. I’m at the crossroads of “Bernie Would Have Won” and “Marx was right.”

Karl Marx literally described the Poltical Ratchet concept that we recognize in this Meme version. Like, that’s how old it is. His Poltical advice to the left was to apply that very same Ratch Effect to socialist/communist poltical demands.
The Ratchet Effect

How you are being duped by by the fake two-party system.

DEMOCRATS BLOCK
MOVEMENT BACK
TO THE LEFT

REPUBLICANS TURN
EVERYTHING TO THE RIGHT

What’s cool is we’ve known this, with graphs, since 2016, and really, we’ve always know it. The “fiscally conservative Democrat” is literally a statistically non-existent voting bloc. And every election, we “lesser evil” vote for their evil poltics for no reason at all, and it never reduces harm.

This is a graph of the 2016 electorate, with the voter preferences of voters shown on the left side by actual policy preference rather than partisan alignment. 73.5% on left. (And given that voters are always given 2 rightwing candidates, we can assume that non-voters lean more left in preference.)

Right? It’s weird, the “centrists” represent a politics (bottom right) that statistically there’s no real voters for (< 4% and those are not really winnable votes). And yet, everyone pretends we have to do exactly what they say. It’s bizarre.

It might sound hyperbolic, but the data backs this up. The “fiscally conservative, socially liberal” voting block is 3.6% of voters, half of which are libertarian voters, and another quarter are republicans. The “centrist” is literally < 1% of voters.

I like to point out that the empty bottom right quadrant made up of less than 4% of all voters is the absolute ceiling of potential voters the “centrist” politics can ever hope to capture. Less than 4%. Kicking them out loses us nothing, potentially gains us everything.

They are also less than 4% of the voting population nation wide. They’ve basically had all of politics catering directly to them for half a century, ruining everything, and they actually don’t exist as a statistically significant voting bloc. (Sourced From www.voterstudygroup.org/publication/... )

You just showed up, and was telling the people already there how to do things, and they just…ignored you? Damn, how undemocratic.

This was written in 1933. ‘The notorious theory of the "lesser evil" is based on this fatalistic view of the inevitability of fascism’ This “lesser evil” was then relentlessly sold to you ever since. Why? It’s obvious: to push you inevitably towards fascism.

So instead of fighting fascism, everyone who takes such a standpoint can only aim at: slowing down the "inevitable" process of fascization, giving it more "civilized" forms. The notorious theory of the "lesser evil" is based on this fatalistic view of the inevitability of fascism: Brüning is the lesser evil compared to Papen, Schleicher compared to Hitler, tomorrow maybe: Hitler compared to "National Socialist extremists", etc. ad infinitum.

This chart is of the 2016 election analysis. We knew this for 10 years at least, just took a minute to build something, gain some momentum.

Even in 2016, the “center” (bottom right, not the center of the graph) was less than 4% of voters, with essentially nothing in terms of demographics to win any votes from. Meanwhile, almost 75% of all voters are on the left side, waiting for any candidate at all to try to appeal to them.
