...the atmosphere of his work, and the horror emanating from it fascinated the author of “Dagon”. Significantly, during his wanderings through Boston in 1923, Lovecraft even visited Cotton Mather’s grave. In another letter to Galpin and Long from 1923, he wrote:

#Lovecraft was fascinated by the works of the Puritan theologian and historian Cotton Mather. He mentions him in such works as “The Dreams in the Witch House”, and “Pickman’s Model”, where he also names a specific and highly unsettling work by Mather, “Wonders of the Invisible World”. 🧵

In your letters you often ask: "How did you make this void horror move so realistically?" We used an ancient indie mocap technique, passed down through generations of underfunded developers. See the vid 🦑 We are available for mocap consultations btw. #indiedev #indiegame #gamedev #mocap

H. P. #Lovecraft was keenly interested in the phenomenon of witchcraft and witch trials, in part because… the twisted and dark turns of history had connected his own family with the fate of the women tragically sentenced to death in Salem. #LovecraftWitchcraft #1 🧵

Besides looking cool, the teleport tip allows you to pull some wicked haunted pool moves. Swap the cue ball with the ball you're aiming at, score points, bleed the void horror, survive the ritual ⚡️💀🎱 #roguelike #indiegame #gamedev

Do you remember those tireless, fearless (and perhaps slightly mad?) researchers of the weird and extraordinary in Lovecraft’s stories? Well, we’ve just teamed up with one of them - Mikołaj Kołyszko. 👨‍🎓 🧵

Priests really drew the short straw in Lovecraft’s universe. It’s bad enough that an entire bestiary of tentacled horrors is constantly putting their faith to the test (along with their sanity and HP). But then there’s Lovecraft himself - a self-proclaimed atheist, making things even harder. 🧵 1/4

- because there might be someone on the other side who had the exact same idea. A trapezohedron’s popular form is a 10-sided die, so watch yourselves out there at your next Call of Cthulhu session. 🧵 2/3

A dual polyhedron of an n-gonal antiprism, duh. Or, as Lovecraft put it: “a curiously angled stone.” The Shining Trapezohedron is one of his many mind-bending artifacts. A cosmic “window on all time and space” that you probably shouldn’t look through -🧵 1/3 #GolemOnHorror

@cyanidestudio.bsky.social skillfully brought out the hidden essence of Lovecraft's work - his agnostic-atheist worldview, reflected in the blasphemous distortion of religious imagery. The most vivid example is The Dunwich Horror, where... well, perhaps we'll dive into it another time.

Can you commit blasphemy by eating? Call of Cthulhu (2018) has stayed with me mostly because of one motif - minor spoiler alert - the island's inhabitants consuming parts of a being retrieved from the ocean's depths. This becomes a ritual, and leads to a profound inner transformation.

We’ve always wanted to create a classic P&C game. One with an inventory, puzzles and dialogues. Dagon has zero items, challenges and a 2.200-word monologue. But hey, you’ve got to start somewhere! Fortunately, we have a great role model to learn from. Sanitarium is getting an Enhanced edition 🖤

They say true love is eternal. H.P. Lovecraft would probably have a few questions about eternity. August 20 is both Confess Your Love Day (here in 🇵🇱 ) and the birthday of a writer who literally had LOVE in his name. 🫀 Happy birthday, H.P.L.! 🐙 #Lovecraft
