It really is. And one of the biggest strengths is it's so rules lite, you can run just about any tone you want, run long campaigns.. or literally spur of the moment, and it's like... 30 minutes prep to learn the rules make characters and GO. I genuinely love this game.

I'm going to say it "Under the Cloak of War" dethrones "Under the Pale Moonlight" as the best episode of Star Trek. EVER. Does that detract from DS9? IMO? No. It just reflects the maturation of Trek, the loosening of control from the Networks, allowing Trek to be more "open" than ever before.

IWM Highlander is still the best.. and yes I know Captain Morgan faces the other direction... but it's really hard to hold that basket hilt broadsword (Claybeg?) with your Gauss Rifle. Or in this case, LB-10X because yes... there is a special variant with this one.

Coming off their Success in Operation Bulldog and Serpent, with the Hussar and Blackwatch declaring directly as SLDF Regiments. The Black Watch was one mech designed for them, but the Hussars wanted something a bit different and gave specifications for an infighting variant of the Highlander.

Dropping the Gauss for a dual purpose Blankenburg LB-10X autocannon, the Medium Lasers were updated to Defiance Model XII Extended Range models, and the SRM rack was updated with Streak technology. Lastly the LRM20 would have an Artemis IV FCS added for enhanced efficacy.

The biggest offensive change was the addition of a broadsword. Enhancing that is Triple Strength Myomers. To make it easier to engage, two heatsinks were dropped. Oddly, at least at first glance, they were upgraded to Double Strength. There was a madness to the method though. 5 of them are connected to a deactivation switch, which is actually shut off, by default. With only the 5 active, the mech can approach while firing it's LB-X and LRMs with no waste heat. As it closes.. the simple act of walking, wile firing all it's short range weapons would be enough to instantly trigger the Myomers, which in theory could be kept active simply by firing the ER Medium Lasers. Should the mech not be able to close, the extra 5 DHS can be activated, allowing it to use it's various ranged weapons with relative aplomb.

The only hold up was the experimental Endo Composite internal structure, which feed up the required blend of tonnage and internals space. LIkewise the Armor would be switched to standard plate, with more added to give it similar protection.

Unfortunately, the first shipment to the Hussars arrived just in time for the outbreak of the Jihad, with the Hussars being annihilated in the opening months of the Blakist crusade. With the Hussars and Black Watch both being essentially rendered inactive, the lines on Son Hoa would be severely damaged, so the model would be discontinued.

With the discovery that Jaffrey Loren and a few Hussars had survived, in 3069, a few of the 2SL would also be recovered, though by the final battle of the Jihad, only 2 were still known to be functional, one of which abandoned the sword for a more brutal hatchet.

Well.. there are Squigs, there are Squigasaurs and there are Squigsharks.... but since my first autistic obsession was Sharks, every time I saw Big Chompa, I think "SHARK". So I felt a powerful need to make a SharkSquig.. or a Landshark.. or a Squigalodon?

Anyhow, debated giving it gills..... so got two versions, you tell me which is more better for Orkboy Amphibious Cavalry!

I used to play Orks as my primaries way back when I played Warhammer Fantasy, 40k & BloodBowl. And by way back I mean over 25 years ago. No intention of returning, but I have to say, while all the minis have massively improved since (except maybe some of the Eldar stuff), those Squigs tho? NICE!

whilst I look forward to this.... the Combine is.. only loosely based on Edo Period, at the best of times. More like.. Space Shogun, with very cherry picked, overly romanticized details, degraded by time and distance. But the base uniform is more (loosely) WWII Imperial coded, in this instance. 🤔

you can modify anything into anything else. Doesn't change the canon design being poor. Even if you did account for mods, that is still 6/9/4 with an XL. Still super slow, and running or jumping you get what, a +2 TMM? By clan invasion, Lights w/ less than a base +3-4 TMM are pretty much toast.🤷‍♂️

why settle for good, when you can just have weird, instead.

Visually, one could say it was a product of Duane Loose's "Too much LDS in the 60s" era (I kid, he was experimenting with curves, not ergots), and thus, like most of it's TRO 3058 Brethren.. is visually.. uh.. distinctive.

When it comes to stats? I mean.. solid armor for a Light Mech, decent heat management and range, at least compared to 3025 era Lights... but.. it's weapons are an odd mismatch of an ER Large Laser, a std Large Laser and a Medium Pulse Laser. OH.. and it's a Light Mech with an XL engine... that didn't use it to get decent speed, topping out at 97 kph, in an era where realistically 8/12 or 9/14 movement is pretty much the norm. So fragile engine and no TMM to write home about. Heck, no JJs, even.

I tried to improve it, but short of just Clan Teching everything? Nothing really seems worth the effort. How about you? Any stories of daring do that should make me revise my opinion?

was a bit shocked to have a wet sock, soles looked intact. But actually touching it its worn down to Bible paper thinness..and has 2 small punctures. I reckon 4000 km over the last year and a half... is decent durability (the insoles suck tho) just one more thing I can't replace right now. ,🤷‍♂️
