doing new miniatures still messes with me because a) i learned to paint on old timey, far less detailed minis and b) mostly i'm stippling much larger surfaces on robot models and boy howdy does the technique and scale i work at there not translate to tiny, already-detailed miniatures

Fun fact, it's ok to not be perfect at things you like doing. Its ok to make mistakes, or to be content with your current abilities. Internet comments are often "you dont know what you're doing" and "man this sucks" but it's OKAY. You don't have to optimise and min max things you like doing.
