I keep having to split my projects into more and more pieces just to get sidetracked with a different project that then gets the same treatment… I’m starting to wonder how I ever finish anything

Well, it has been a year and I’m still working on this. The whole project has changed so much since its inception but I’m having far too much fun with it. I’m considering sharing things but we’ll see when that happens at the pace I’ve been working at haha

I saw a legitimate live grasshopper on my walk today and it was such a weird mix of excitement over a bug and dread that said bug can survive outside the week of the winter solstice. Nothing wrong here…

Finally got a decent picture of an ambush bug— I swear they’re so common but so hard to get a good picture of. Now that I’m done with school (for now?) I can take more bug pictures between my job rejections! (this is fine, mhm)

I see we’re doing deextinction discourse again, I’ll bite! Genotypes (DNA variation) alone do not make a phenotype (how bodies look, function, behave). Even if we reproduced an extinct genome, that animal doesn’t necessarily have the developmental context and learned culture of the extinct species

Thinking about sunshine and milkweed beetles— someday the snow will melt and I’ll have small friends again but for now I’ll look through my pictures.

I have become the person who learns there’s an endemic spider near where I live and wants to go on a trip specifically to look for it. Why must I learn this in the winter I want to go look for spiders now.
