My book, Unruly Subjects, is out with @manchesterup.bsky.social 📘✨ For the last decade, I’ve been researching Europe’s border struggles in Greece, in the Aegean archipelago. It's a look at how people - citizens and non-citizens - carve out spaces of hope amidst state violence and abandonment. (1/4)

This is so sad. I’ve never seen a media witch hunt like this over accusations of plagiarism or CV embellishment in academia. The media & academics who helped drive this frenzy should be held accountable.

The UK Home Secretary #shabanamahmood is never shy of a photo opportunity. Here she is posing in a martial Greg Bovino–style coat at a removal centre in #Copenhagen; just a few days later we find her again on the front pages announcing a #visa ban for countries that “abuse our generosity”. #asylum

We are deeply concerned by a State’s use of the word “witch” to attack a UN expert in her report to the #UNGA80 3rd Committee. Misogynistic gendered insults have no place in international dialogue and undermine women’s equality and the integrity and independence of UN mandates.
