So true, the wishful thinking of some that, with a click of the finger, UK is back is just plain silly. On one hand is Britain's constant assumption that it can get a better deal, and on the other is the EU recognition of that. Unless there is some geopolitical upheaval, it will take a decade.

Although this is an arrangement that would, in all probability, be good for both sides, I think the timing of the remarks have a lot to do with messaging to the US. Actual trade negotiators ohave to tread carefully between the chaos rhetoric of the white house and real world realignments.

A lesson from ww2. Germany was bombing UK radar towers with success. We couldn't see incoming bombers. Then Hitler order the bombing of cities instead. The population suffered but radars helped fight the battle of Britain. Ukraine must keep their retaliation on infrastructure.
