We've noted a recent spike in calls relating to #bullying at school. Our pages explain what to do if you child is experiencing bullying, what the school should do in response as well as other sources of support. Visit: enquire.org.uk/parents/work... #FAQFriday @respectme-scotland.bsky.social
This weeks FAQ Friday asks the question my child is being bulled at school, what can I do? This weeks thematic colour is deep red. Card 1 of 4.Part one of a three part answer urges us to stay calm and try to get a full understanding of the situation. Doing so will reassure your child you are listenting without judgement and taking them seriously. It also notes that exploring options together with your child can help them feel valued and listened to and will help you understand the support they need. Card 2 of 3.The second card recommends contacting school and highlighting concerns about your child's wellbeing as well as how the bullying may be impacting their learning. Recommended steps are to read the school's antibullying policy and then ask for a meeting with the class or guidance teacher. At the meeting explain what is happening and the impact it is having. Discuss what you and your child would like to happen next. Card 3 of 4.The final part of the answer reminds us that not all situations can be resolved after one meeting. Sometimes it might take time for the school to investigate or put in place strategies to responsd to the bullying. While this is happening make sure to focus on your child and what you can do to support their wellbeing in the meantime. Card 4 of 4.

This time of year is usually when we start to recieve more questions around #placingrequests. Today's #FAQFriday highlights some key things you need to know including who to submit your request to, and what needs to be included. For more information, visit: enquire.org.uk/.../choosing...
Today's FAQ Friday uses a dark teal colour scheme and asks how do I make a placing request?Answer card one of three explains that there are different routes to progress a placing request depending on where you want your child to go to school. If the request is to a local authority run school, the request must go to the local authority responsible for running the school. This may be different from the local authority area you live in. For independent or grant-aided schools, an application should be made to the local authority where the child lives.Answer card two of three highlights placing requests must be made in writing, or in another form that can be referenced or accessed in the future, for example video or audio recording. Placing requests are usually made through the local authority website. The final answer card of the set explains that a placing request must include particular information including your name and address, your child's name and age, the name of their current school (if any), the name of the schol you have chosen and the reasons for your choice.

Part-time timetables - what are they and when are they used? Part time timetables are a short-term measure that may be used as a short-term support measure. They should never be used as a long-term way to meet need. Find out more: enquire.org.uk/parents/atte... #FAQFriday #school #support
Text based card. A question posed as part of Enquire's FAQ Friday series asks what are part-time timetables and when should they be used? This series used a burnt orange colour scheme.Text based card. The first part of a three part answer reveals part-time timetables may be suggested to help a child returning to school after a period of absence, perhaps as a result of illness or exclusion. Part time timetables may also be suggested to be used if time is needed to put in place the support needed. Answer card one of three.Text based card. Part two of the answer around the use of part-time timetables reminds us that they should only be used if in the child's best interests, and a child's wellbeing should always be at the centre of any decisions. It should never be used as a long-term way of meeting needs. Answer card two of three. The third and final part of the answer informs that schools should still find a way to support learning if a child is not at school. This might mean sending work home, providing access to learning online or receiving learning in a different setting. Answer card three of three.
