Can Sadiq Khan stop Asif Aziz's mass evictions?
We went to the billionaire's home to get answers, as a leading homelessness charity cut ties with the landlord and tenants begged the mayor to save their homes.

London’s “worst mass eviction in recent history” is underway; hundreds of households across London told to get out of their homes this week by the same landlord, ahead of the renters rights act. The landlord? Billionaire Asif Aziz’s Criterion Capital. www.londoncentric.media/p/asif-aziz-...

Who's the billionaire behind London’s biggest mass eviction?
He's the London philanthropist who says he's committed to solving homelessness. So why is Asif Aziz's Criterion Capital rushing to make hundreds of Londoners homeless in the coming weeks?

It is incredibly foolish the 472 is discontinued. Another sign Cllrs have a disregard for what is required locally. To see the Council make a song and dance about a couple of really early morning journeys on 469, is a joke. What about frequency reductions on 178 & 386? Nothing said. Funny that...

Billo @billo20four7.bsky.social · 24/01/2026
I would also blame Cllrs at Greenwich Council for not lobbying TfL on precisely that. Those living in Woolwich & Charlton (doesn't even serve the Woolwich Ferry for a connection the other side of the river & SL2), with schools along that stretch. Places greater pressure on 161 & 177 particularly.

I would add because of that mantra in Barnet, their roads never really recovered. A couple of yrs back, a bus route had to stop serving the Dollis Valley estste because of the amount of potholes. Once a Council adopts a policy like that, it will take years, if at all, to improve. A false economy.

Billo @billo20four7.bsky.social · 20/01/2026
Of course, no coincidence Bartlett remarked on his time at Barnet. Barnet's renowned consistently high, over the last couple of decades, in terms of claims & complaints for their roads. It does cost more long term if you run them down to such a degree repairs are akin to a patchwork quilt.

Mixed bag from @TfL notifying passengers in Woolwich of the discontinuation of route 472. Towards Charlton, no details of the SL11 route & stops (no lantern on the bus shelter either) & looks hasty, unlike the opposite side of the road. Less than a week to go. #Woolwich
Woolwich Market bus stop. Details only of discontinuation of route 472. No details of Superloop SL11 route or stops. Looks like a "printers draft" used as well of the notice, note the formatting details of the poster.Bus stop at Woolwich Market providing details of the discontinuation of route 472 & the stops served and route for its replacement Superloop SL11. Unlike the details provided across the road at Woolwich Market.Bus stop and shelter at Woolwich Station with a newly placed Superloop lantern on top of the shelter. Comes as no surprise after I noticed in 2023, a report stating Greenwich Council had placed highways into "managed decline". Fact is, roads are in dire condition across the borough. It doesn't take long cycling or driving to see that. Power to the DfT for highlighting what locals can see daily.

Might come to the relief of those along Nightingale Place & the lower end of Plumstead Common Rd where 244 is diverted, due to the closure of Herbert Rd, the 386 is serving that before rejoining the line of route at Ha-Ha Road. Appears to have occurred before Christmas. #Woolwich #Plumstead

New Superloop SL11, the limited stop service between North Greenwich & Abbey Wood via Plumstead, Woolwich & Charlton, replaces day route 472 on 24 January. Will come to a shock of the users along it where the SL11 doesn't stop. That aspect has not been well publicised locally.

Why Greenwich Council & their Cllrs are constantly reactive on bus transport is beyond me. Info on bus stops locally & if I received an email about it in advance from TfL, I'm darn sure the Council did; I placed on BlueSky & X both the 386 & 178 reductions. In truth, I don't think they are bothered.
