He only ever speaks well of Kim Jong Un, and he his plainly envious. He would like nothing better than to submit the US to a Trump dynasty of absolute rulers.

Rest assured, were profits going into Trumps pockets he would export as much as possible. Even if it harmed Americans.

The Association for Human Mathematics (AHM) statement on OpenAI’s October 6 release of mathematical documents just dropped! www.ahmath.org/statements
AHM Statement on OpenAI’s October 6 Release of Mathematical Documents

Yesterday, on October 6th, 2026, OpenAI – which is currently defending lawsuits against accusations of illegal plagiarism, copyright infringement, and trademark dilution – released a repository of manuscripts purporting to contain solutions to a number of high-profile problems in mathematics.

Mathematicians did not ask for this work to be done. The Advisory Group on Mathematics and Artificial Intelligence, from whom OpenAI has claimed to derive its legitimacy, opened their initial advisory statement by saying that frontier AI corporations should not test advanced mathematical problems on internal models. In ignoring the central premise of the Advisory Group’s position, OpenAI has indicated total disregard for the norms of scientific research — norms that guarantee that mathematics remains trustworthy, ethically researched, and in the public interest.

Mathematicians have a particular vision of progress that is informed by history and field-specific considerations. We reject OpenAI's assertion that this release advances our subject, and we urge mathematicians and the public to view the value of this publication model with due skepticism.

Releasing over 700 files at once is not a demonstration of scholarship, but a demonstration of power. We urge mathematicians to discontinue their work with OpenAI and to return to a vision of science that centers human understanding.

I am angry tonight. Because tonight ICE shot a New Yorker. They shot a New Yorker while his five year old child was in the car. ICE makes this city less safe. We want them out. Now.

Still need to hear what the defining features of moderate are.

Bill @billn.bsky.social · 08/10/2026
That's their take on it, I would just define them has having moved to the right. Post war Labour was more to the left, but still rested on the basic acceptance of capitalism. Crudely, I take left to mean socialism and right to mean capitalism. Centre is a spectrum of compromises with Capitalsim.

What does “being in the middle mean” here? Perhaps the words have different connotations in the US and the UK.
110
Bill @billn.bsky.social · 08/10/2026
That is the meaning I would give to "centre". Whichever word one uses one is still left with a wide and shifting spectrum.
100
Bill @billn.bsky.social · 08/10/2026
Replacing "centre" with "moderate" solves nothing. Moderate is just as much a moving target, moderate in relation to what? What sounds extreme one day can sound moderate, in the face of full on fascism, the next.

AI not very flattering! Has AI now developed feelings and sensitivity to what people say about it? People can be concerned about artificial ingredients in food, but they ain't gonna eat AI. Opposite of artificial in food is natural, nothing natural about AI. Is it Bezos or Bozo?

I think there is a pattern there. In my experience places with little or no minority population are more likely to swallow right wing immigration narratives.

Bill @billn.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
He talks of ghettoes & a refusal to integrate. But the fact that many Asians live in predominantly Asian areas is more the result of white racism. Those communities result from white flight & minorities seeking safety in numbers faced with racist attacks like "Paki-Bashing" in the 70s.

Bill @billn.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
Likely there are a number of white racists who won't go out of fear they hear someone speaking in another language. Although I expect they would love to go as part of a far right hate march to intimidate residents.
