feels like the internet rediscovers this about antiperspirant every few years and it never sounds any less bonkers

The problem with applying in the morning is that your body is more likely to sweat before the antiperspirant has had time to — ahem - clog those ducts, and so you find yourself sweating through the rest of the day.

I know I'm not the first person to write about this. Not even close. This is simple-to-explain, easy-to-use advice. I'm sharing it again, because despite the tip being all over the internet — and on the box of -antiperspirant – almost everyone I speak with about this is shocked to learn the truth about nighttime application.

I was made to learn about this latest update in the apparently real beef between sneako and clav, so naturally I need y'all to shoulder the burden with me

an alleged friend sharing a long clav tweet that reads:

Which is true, under the Islamic fiqh definition of qimar.

was scrolling through the trend page for this and saw a lot of similar ish results with hotspots in Cali, the northeast, and south florida, and my going theory is that those regions export a lot of culture onto parts of the internet where certain millennial demos of people grew up terminally online

my dialect map results showing major hotspots in the stretch of california from LA to the bay, south to central florida, and interestingly a bit in maine. the midwest is varying but mostly deep shades of blue.

steambot chronicles, a customizable mecha action rpg with music rhythm and business management sim gameplay aspects. the controls were q bit obtuse but the music was great. a sequel was in development for ps3 but it never saw the light of day. there's also a psp spinoff that I've yet to play.

couldn't pick just one, descriptions and thoughts on each in the alt text

american apartheid, segregation and the making of the underclass, by Douglas Massey and Nancy Denton. perhaps no better cataloguing of how entire communities are locked out of economic mobility by deliberate policymaking at all levels of american government. more than just a simple history of redlining.

filterworld, how algorithms flattened culture, by Kyle Chayka. probably the least compellingly written book among my recommendations but the topic is a hobbyhorse of mine. a bit outdated for our current climate of billionaire fascists buying up social and traditional media companies to deliberately push regressive sociopolitical narratives, and instead focused largely on the flattening and homogenization effects of algorithmic media consumption.

I am not a tractor, how florida farmworkers took on the fast food giants and won, by susan marquis. have a love hate relationship with this book. it catalogues how the coalition of immokalee workers drastically improved their working and living conditions by largely abandoning an unproductive push for legislative action and instead opted to pressure and then partner directly with national grocery titans and fast food conglomerates to sign onto a largely voluntary code of conduct centered around things like pay, health and safety, and the party verification. my political leanings should make me opposed to such a bandaid approach and insist on more centralized mechanisms of enforcement, but this book abd mainly my own personal interactions with the CIW taught me a lot of hard lessons about doing what works and opting for available solutions that will improve people's material conditions significantly instead of always wanting to chase politically perfect long horizon solutions that could potentially improve people's material conditions completely in theory but in actuality you just spin your wheels forever and people continue to suffer in the meantime. still wrestle with these concepts.

the plague by albert camus. don't think I could do this nearly as much justice as carlos maza's video essay titled how to be hopeless, so you should look that up.
