'Separatism' is when British Muslims vote for the most socially liberal candidate in the race to stop Matt Goodwin, who Kemi Badenoch herself explicitly said was a threat to minority life in this country, becoming an MP.

Just to illustrate the scale of this a bit more. The shift in votes in the Gorton by-election wasn't so much left right - but from the traditional big two parties to the two insurgent parties.

Thank you Pep Guardiola for using your platform. Governments killing, displacing and dehumanising millions across the world want to make us think it's normal. But Guardiola is right. We can't look away. And we cannot accept it.

Productivity has flatlined across the UK since the financial crisis, costing the economy tens of billions a year. If govt is serious about raising both growth and living standards – the mission on which its success depends – it must deliver a step change in productivity growth.

There are more than a million British people with Pakistani heritage in the UK. For the Shadow Home Secretary to suggest they have an "alien" and "medieval" culture and to smear them by association with the crimes of a tiny minority, is the politics of the far-right gutter.

I think that when I was younger, politicians were really larger than life, immutable totems. We knew what they were about. No one epitomised that more than #JohnPrescott. He lived and breathed the Trade Unionist movement and the Labour Party. The world is dimmer without him.
