Probably should have said it's Paul Hamer as roads and road safety.

No more Victorian Minister for Active Transport. Just roads and road safety. While losing the title isn't great, having just one minister might actually be better than two, it's not like the Active Transport minister was very active.

We're getting a few reports of collisions and injuries at Dyon and Kensington Rd where we met with DTP 2 years ago and they told us that we shouldn't get our expectations up for any safety improvements.

Bob Barrett from Melbourne’s inner-west was already a regular e-bike rider before the spike in petrol prices, but said that the increased cost had pushed him to cycle even more frequently.

Experts spent years trying to change the way people travel. The fuel crisis did it in less than a month
Nearly half of Australians have changed the way they travel since the war in Iran began, but a clear regional and metropolitan divide has appeared.

Problem being that even moderate active transport initiatives are weaponised by unintentional ignorance &/or those more invested in wedge politics. Possible strategy is bringing people along then elect better leaders. By the way, we're far away from ever giving up in Yarra.

Victoria spends billions each year on transport infrastructure. Dedicating just 5% to Strategic Cycling Corridors would give everyone more choice on how they get around school, work & shops. Enter your address to explore network near you+send email to local MP bicyclenetwork.com.au/our-advocacy...

Strategic Cycling Corridor
Ask your local MP to support dedicated funding for Strategic Cycling Corridors. It's only going to take 5 cents in the transport dollar!

The current plans for Tottenham station upgrade as part of Airport Rail have riders having to dismount, rather than provide a proper connection. It's supposed to be a SCC. Crazy they would build a whole new underpass and not build a link. Please provide feedback. engage.vic.gov.au/project/airp...

Yarraville's Anderson St level crossing removal concept is out. The main underpass is stairs and elevators, a second northern one will allow riding through. Pretty relieved that we won't be seeing a "cyclists dismount sign". bigbuild.vic.gov.au/projects/lev...

The plan talks about how good Seville's rollout was, but then waffles on about low cost, transitional and trade-offs with other transport outcomes and on street car parking. Seville went hard, fast and permanent from the outset.

Australia's transport policy should: - Have WAY more federal support for active / public transport - Should have put limits on road tanks YEARS ago instead of subsidising them! - Should close the massive loopholes in efficiency standards - Should close loopholes for fossil+battery cars (hi BYD)

Big cars are dead weight dragging down climate policy
Australia’s government has released a new transport climate policy. But it doesn’t deal with the problem of car bloat: the main driver of rising emissions.
