Alan @bikesnfoodnbeer.eurosky.social · 16hAh, I love the ceremony of using it. Takes me back to my uni days of working in a cafe, and being a nipper visiting my grandparents and going to the local Italian cafe/ice cream parlour in Fife. The sound of someone frothing milk with a steam wand just makes me feel about 5 again. 020 2
Alan @bikesnfoodnbeer.eurosky.social · 16hYup, inverted works best for me I found. Aeropress was my office based coffee as so much better than the “free” stuff and much cheaper than the subsidised Costa in the building. As I drink espresso or black americano, it is perfect when travelling too. 150 5
Alan @bikesnfoodnbeer.eurosky.social · 16hThere’s about 7g of coffee in a pod, which is the same as a regular espresso made in a machine, AeroPress or handheld espresso device. So I use the same amount of coffee, but with much less waste. It looks more, but that’s because I don’t use an industrial machine to compress it. 320 3
Alan @bikesnfoodnbeer.eurosky.social · 16hI bought the Gaggia second hand about a decade ago for ~£100 and service it myself. Best investment decision I made in service to coffee! 330 3
Alan @bikesnfoodnbeer.eurosky.social · 17hI have a Gaggia Classic at home (utterly serviceable and rebuildable), an aeropress and a hand powered espresso machine for travelling/camping. All use nothing but ground coffee, water and power (either electricity or elbow grease). 130 3

Alan @bikesnfoodnbeer.eurosky.social · 01/11/2026My ex-girlfriend married her husband in his hospital room after he was bitten by an insect and got a horrible blood borne disease. He passed about two days later. Horrible crap I wouldn’t wish on anyone. Cancer is a bugger too and can do one! 110 1

Alan @bikesnfoodnbeer.eurosky.social · 01/11/2026We had a bumper year for a change. Loads of kids from about 1730-2000. But we still over-catered! 000 0

Alan @bikesnfoodnbeer.eurosky.social · 26/10/2026I’m quite broken, physically (rotator cuff injury) and mentally (everything!). Pain meds made me sleepy, so couldn’t get work done, which made me stressed and anxious. I’m now on holiday, supposedly, and thinking about all the work I didn’t get done before the weekend instead of planning my week. 000 0
Alan @bikesnfoodnbeer.eurosky.social · 26/10/2026I loved it, but seems it was too hardcore for most! I still need to find a suitable replacement. 010 1
Alan @bikesnfoodnbeer.eurosky.social · 26/10/2026I really miss the Original Source Black Mint. For hard bastards that think mint and tea tree oil is just a bit tingly. 130 3
Alan @bikesnfoodnbeer.eurosky.social · 25/10/2026Oddly, Evans has classified the Adidas Samba Velo shoe as a “road shoe”. Might be worth a look as it basically looks like a normal Adidas Samba trainer. If you’re a kids size (5.5 or less) you could be on to a cheap winner (£33 or so). 010 1
Alan @bikesnfoodnbeer.eurosky.social · 25/10/2026Oh, I’ll admit it’s been a while, but they used to do more walking-friendly cycling shoes too. Trek store in Stocksbridge? I’ll assume the usual JEJames etc has been done too. 110 1
Alan @bikesnfoodnbeer.eurosky.social · 25/10/2026Friend has had 3 flight reschedules and cancellations and is on way home from airport now. Rebooked on a flight tomorrow morning instead. One of the suggested flights was Glasgow > Dublin > Gatwick > LHR > Toronto. Insane levels of juggling! 020 2
