We're waiting for people like me to admit: "Those edge to edge opaque tarps were just for safety. I guess it didn't turn out like I predicted, maybe some of my underlying premises were wrong." CB's premise that the tarp would be down by now was wrong. My premise was not. Or am I missing something?

Misinformed takes from @cbowers.bsky.social on the Kennedy Center. Then they unlink their posts when I point out how wrong they were. Violating the Trump presumption of irregularity, they assure us: "maybe they had other work scheduled for today" - every day for the last 104 days.

If I may steelman this: 1. The media has abandoned airborne illness as something which changes seasonally and can be reduced via ventilation, masking, filtration, vaccination, and isolation. They report it as a force of nature, not a beast which can be tamed. Pics: Where's ventilation and masking?
Cases previously reached a 30-year high in 2025, with 2,289 confirmed infections across 43 states plus Washington, DC, for the entire year. The majority, 93%, of infections were contracted by unvaccinated people or those with unknown vaccination statuses. Three people, including two children, died as a result of the outbreaks, marking the first pediatric deaths from measles in a decade.

About 90% of unvaccinated people who are exposed to measles end up contracting it. Additionally, 1 in 5 of those people end up hospitalized, according to the CDC. It is especially dangerous for young children.

The MMR vaccine (measles, mumps and rubella), which protects against measles with 97% efficacy, is typically administered to children as part of the regular vaccine course at ages 12 to 15 months for the first dose and ages 4 to 6 years for the second. MMR vaccination uptake has declined in recent years, resulting in a growing number of states no longer reporting rates consistent with herd immunity. He went on, "Immunization of vulnerable populations such as older adults remains very important to avoid severe outcomes. Research into COVID continues as we try to find better ways of preventing disease."Experts are asking people to stay home if they’re sick and to wash their hands frequently. Newland and Bassett urge people to get a flu shot if they haven’t already. The doctors said it isn’t too late to get one, and it’s especially important for kids heading back to the classroom. People will get protection within two weeks of getting the vaccine.

My actual answer is The Lion King (1994). But nobody talks about how Curious George (2006) is one of the best-looking ever. Unmatched use of color. I am not joking.

This you?
fascinating to think of the pirates as visiting this adult corruption and evil on the innocent carefree kids when the actual pirates were fugitives and rebels against the corruption and evil of nascent capitalist empire, risking execution by the state just to get a fair wage and edible food!

I'll even concede the basic idea of "Linux that doesn't suck" is appealing. However, I think I cracked the code when I saw "agentic" in the pitch. CEOs love that shit.

Been seeing these weasel claims in more news lately. The claim in the pic is literally true. The Mercator projection distorts landmasses and shrinks the Global South. You can say there's a reason for that, but the fact is undeniable. I was unable to find what "news" outlet put this out.

The anti-Roma rhetoric is from literal Nazis in Nazi Germany. They sent Roma to concentration camps to kill them in WW2. Roma is an ethnic group - if he wanted to complain about homeless people, he could have. One of his cited sources (Google translated) just uses "Roma" and not the G word 🤔

I buy antiques, which are usually actual relics of decades past. Even these stores have been filling up with: - fraudulent newly manufactured reproductions (Coke ads, "primitive" items) with no marking saying they're new - AI generated art printed onto blurry metal tins. In 20% of stores now.
The tins on the far upper right are probably newly manufactured and not antiques, yet they are sold alongside antique coke bottles in an antique score.

I live in Ohio and love small town aesthetics. Been on dozens of trips to little stores all over the region (including Amish Country, which is a de facto pedestrian mall). It's often fake. Traditional stores founded in the 80s full of Live Laugh Love made in China. Pumpkin spice smell pumped in.

Simpsons screenshots.

Wait, before we go, I took the liberty of making
these embroidered conspiracy jackets for all of us.

Jacket says "Cover-up 2005" with Homer, Bart, Chief Wiggum, Kirk.

Confirmed. Google says the way to use its synthID model is through Gemini, so I did. I tried 3 photos and this was the only one with a positive result.

civilization peaked here want to look at a whale? there it fucking is. want to walk overlooking the lake? all yours bitch. want to slide into the water? there you fucking go. you don't need anything else.
Blue Whale of Catoosa. 80 feet long, 20 feet tall, inside a lake. Midcentury roadside attraction style made of painted concrete. Like a very large mini golf sculpture. Whale has a slide going out the side of it, a happy grin, and you can walk inside it.

The businesses on Route 66 today are kitschy nostalgiabait. That's fine, that's what I'm looking for. But it's not historic. 2007: Pops Soda/Restaurant 2014: Nowhere on Route 66 (awful food) 2021: Route 66 Bowl Primanti Bros. in Pittsburgh goes back to 1933. Which businesses are "real America"?

If Strong Bad Email #135 (2005) came out today, Strong Bad's kitschy, 25-year-old technology would be a DVD or HitClip. In the original, they spun a LaserDisc, singing "whatever happened to the LaserDisc?".
The Cheat holding up a laserdisc while Strong Bad looks on from his 1990s-era Lappy laptop.

Symbols matter, and someone in the chain of command knew that. A photo of the last letter being removed from the people's arts center could have been a Berlin Wall moment.

A tarp was used, but with incomplete coverage. Nothing about the removal is what a good faith administration would do. People would be less upset if they did the removal on-time, or if the equipment for the install matched the equipment for the removal. www.dailynews.com/2025/12/19/k...

Proof of concept Illinois 16-1 congressional map
Map of Illinois with "FUCK JOHN ROBERTS" written out in red. The rest of the state is shades of blue. Same style as a congressional district map.

More died of COVID under Biden than Trump. No more masks May 2021, pre-Delta and Omicron Lost at SCOTUS, didn't fight back Ended emergency in 2022 CVS & Walgreens wasted vaccines "Vaccine only" strategy we knew would fail before he did it 5 day quarantine for economy No ventilation messaging
Walensky's legacy: lifted mask
mandate in May 2021 right
before Delta surge hit USA; hid
breakthrough infection
numbers; cut isolation period
for COVID+; promoted mild
Omicron theory; implied death
w comorbidities OK;
introduced CDC field of green
map; pediatric hepatitis fiasco.
