May I suggest you avoid bombing down my road in an SUV if you can't reverse to the nearest pull in spot (½ KM). I like to sit still, put the handbrake on, sometimes even open up a book or sit eternally.

Technically we don’t officially exist as our 1.5km “road” when built (1800ish) was never given a road number on modern mapping. We feel like Tom Hanks in that stuck in the airport movie. We mow it ourselves. The ditches love ❤️ ❤️ SUVs.

Come capture castles in Tipperary- Built by Major Henry Langley as Ireland’s first 19th-c “archaeological” castle. Designed by William Vitruvius Morrison, work stopped in 1834 when Langley was killed by a falling stone on site. It retains original interiors, a dungeon & working moat.

It was broken into vandalised and desecrated remains strewn outside. Won’t bring them any luck. In Irish folklore vandalising a grave invokes a curse upon the perpetrator. So they are hopefully the starring actors in their own haunting

The strip of render left along the window is a hopeful attempt at ingress arse covering. The gable hearth inside was obviously saturated inside the house before the wishful thinking strip of magic lead just look at the run off on the ground

Then Whisk it up a little. Before it is sent to ye Table, whip up some Crame for Sillibubs and putt it on it.

I always reckon Irish people are essentially pagan. Religion was just grafted on to the old ways that’s why nature worshipping well worship Mother Earth/Virgin Mary all survived thrived through everything. Churches might be waning but visits & rituals at holy/pagan wells has never been higher

The Penal Laws. The State church was to be Protestant (Anglican) no Catholic bell could ever be allowed to challenge the state for a soul. Allowing a bell on the church would mean capitulation. A mix of power status & naked secteranism. Catholics still had to pay Protestant ministers salaries though

I cringe when I see the faux stone walls of modern houses. Indeed staying with red brick alone there’s a whole estate in Kilkenny of what the auctioneers loving describe as “executive style residences” framed totally in what appears to be a stick on red brick and the owners lovin’ it.
