A couple of tatreez patches for an upcoming fundraiser! The design on the left is a cypress tree, and the one on the right is a pigeon, rightfully stitched with Pirate + Robin thread named Pigeon. Saoirse don Phalaistín 🗝️🍉🪁
Juniper holds up two cross stitched patches against a large green hedge. One is green-blue with a golden yellow cypress tree, and the other is a light brown with a blue, purple and olive green pigeon.

at Delaney Hall on Wednesday, someone chalked Bobby Sands's name outside of the entrance to the ICE facility. wrote about his hunger strike (in the context of Irish-Palestinian solidarity) a few years ago, figured I'd share here:
street pavement outside the Delaney Hall detention center covered in chalk messages. the center of the image shows a list reading "Alice Paul, Bobby Sands, Martin Soto"During the Troubles, figures like Bernadette Devlin McAliskey, a former Northern Irish member of parliament and Irish civil rights leader, led a movement inspired by and in solidarity with movements of oppressed peoples worldwide under state persecution, like the US Civil Rights movement. For example, Devlin McAliskey received the key to New York City in 1970 for her civil rights work and gave it directly to the Black Panther Party. In March 1981, a group of Irish Republican prisoners held in British-run prisons began a hunger strike in an effort to achieve political prisoner status. They were led by 27-year-old Bobby Sands, who was elected to Parliament during the strike and died on May 5, 1981, as a result.

It’s Wastewater Wednesday! How are COVID levels? We’re using two sources to help us keep track of the country and our state of Oregon. Thank you to @michael-hoerger.bsky.social for the map and graph, and OHA for continuing to track data coming from our wastewater treatment centers!
Two screenshots against a pink and blue apartment building. The first is a map of the US showing COVID transmission, with states colored light blue to berry pink depending on severity. Oregon is light blue, which means “Very Low”. Text warns that this data is based off April 11th. The second screenshot is text that reads, “68% of Oregon community wastewater treatment centers were positive for SARS-CoV-2 on the most recent sample.”

Took everything out of my fabric bin last week and reorganized it in rainbow order. Sometimes I am impressed that all of my fabric still fits in a box despite doing textile art for years! It’s a struggle to not buy more, but I use little scraps at a time and this is honestly already a tad overkill.
Two rows of mostly fat quarters of fabric arranged in a plastic bin. One row holds neutrals and the other is sorted like a rainbow.

My offering for the upcoming top surgery fundraiser Yeet! hosted by local drag legends Heavy Cream & Hottboxx 9000. This fabric collage is packed full of color, texture and sparkle, and is heavily influenced by the incredible drag acts I’ve seen over the last year.
Juniper holds up a fabric collage in the sun and against a background of grass and daises. The collage is housed in a blue oval hoop and has three sections. From top to bottom: A blue, green and purple checked fabric with tiny cross stitches and blue flower sequins with purple bead centers. Black with multicolored neon splatters, with a whip stitched black and white spiral radiating from the center, and sequins, beads and mushrooms spinning out inside it. Pink and sea foam glitchy fabric with coordinating accent stitching and pink flower sequins with sea foam bead centers. The three sections are blanket stitched together in bumpy waves with pink to green gradient thread.

A 1990 flyer from the first group to call themselves a Cop Watch in Berkeley, California. It’s a call to action after police attacked a legal observer. The struggles of today are always in continuity with the resistance of the past!
1990 flyer that reads: PROTEST POLICE
REPRESSION
MEET AT PEOPLE'S PARK...TUES. NOV. 27
AT NOON FOR A RALLY AND MARCH
Early in November, Oska Hermasa, & respected senior member of the Berkeley community and Berkeley Police Review Commissioner, in the role of legal observer requested the badge numbers of officers Braunecker And Sifuentes of the UCPD. They responded to his request by body slamming him to
the ground, cracking a rib. He was handcuffed and arrested on the charge of interfering with a police
officer in the line of duty. Those duties consisted of rousting homeless people under new guidelines for People's Park.
On November 8, 300 people attended a speakout and
march to the UC cop shop, which ended with 11 arrests on trespassing charges.
Since these actions, the level of police repression has greatly iscreased. Witnesses and protestors have been harassed and intimidated. copwatchers have been verbally abused and arrested in retaliation.
Braunecker And Sifuentes have continued to brutalize the community, including clubbing anti-war protestors and beating up a well-know homeless activist. Oska is scheduled for arraignment on Nov.
27, 2 PM at the Berkeley Courthouse (2120 MLK
Vay). Come out to support Oska. Defend your right to observe the cops!!!

We Are Marching To The Court House With These Demands:
* Drop The Charges Against Osha Neumann.
* Fire Braunecker And Sifuentes.
* Stop The Repression Against The Homeless.
* Drop The Charges Against The Sproul Steps 11.
REFUSE TO BE ABUSED STOP ALL COP VIOLENCE!

Left: an almost-square centered of a very figurative azalea flower. The border is a desaturated dark reddish-brown, the flower a pale wine, with desaturated petals on the corners.

Right: on blue fabric with painted mountain outlines, stylized bamboos with pale green-blue to pale-yellow through white thread.

Theatre Appreciation Post! Icymi, I spent the better part of January as part of the lighting team for VLT’s production of Urinetown. I hung lights, helped design the color schemes and cues used in the show, took lots of notes, and dabbled in light board operation!
A wide angle picture taken from the tech booth and looking towards a stage with an unfinished set on it. The theatre has a rounded wooden ceiling, as it was once a barn. The light board and its monitor are centered in the photo, with lots of sliders for each lighting circuit. Below are notes, a computer mouse, and a large drawing of where each numbered circuit is above the audience and the stage.Juniper holds up a gel, a semi-transparent colored plastic sheet that gets slotted into theatre lights to add your color of choice. This blue gel has various sizes and shapes of holes cut in it, in hopes of mimicking another effect.

We are so excited to have a brand new offering for our community: Free air purifiers to borrow! COVID precautions are more than just masking, and keeping the air clean and circulating is another way to reduce the spread. Please consider air purifiers for your next gathering or event!
A graphic with a blue and rust orange color scheme. There’s clip art of a large standing air purifier on the left side, and a QR code at the bottom right. Text reads: “Announcing Mask Bloc Eugene’s Clean Air Project. Need to borrow an air purifier (for free!) in the Eugene/Springfield area? Fill out our request form! linktr.ee/MaskBlocEug”A graphic with a blue and rust orange color scheme. Text reads: “What is a clean air organization?

Clean air organizations lend out air purifiers to whoever would like to borrow them free of charge.

We are passionate about disability justice, accessibility, and keeping our community safe from airborne pathogens.

Research shows that HEPA air purification is an effective tool for reducing the spread of covid and other airborne illnesses, especially when layered with other precautions like masking and testing.”A graphic with a blue and rust orange color scheme. There’s clip art of a small tabletop air purifier at the bottom. Text reads: “We are grateful to follow in the steps of the first clean air organization, Chicago's Clean Air Club that was founded in 2023. Mask Bloc Eugene/ Springfield's Clean Air Project is officially the 44th clean air organization!

Fill out the request form linked in our linktree if you would like to borrow up to 5 air purifiers for your event, your home, or wherever you want cleaner air.

We Keep Us Safe!”
