Out in the elements, Blackheath. Edwards Cemetery #BlueskyArtShow #weather Bonus #31DaysofGraves
An empty backroad in the rain. Heavy fog and grey sky. Power lines run the left side of the road; in the distant centre a copse of evergreens. Within the trees is an old cemetery. Waterlogged fields surround the trees.

Edward Stephens is #missing his date for #31DaysofGraves Records show he died in 1924. Also missing is the church, which was torn down owing perhaps to saleability of the property. It sat beside the barn at the top of pic 1. Shame we couldn't keep this bit of the past.
A stone in a freshly cut graveyard showing the Stephens family dates. Edward; his wife, Mary; George, their son. The date of death is missing from Edward's. Other 19thC graves in various styles are dotted on a crest in the land.Sign for English Line cemetery. A large shade tree stands to the left; the graveyard spreads out behind and down the slope of land. Beyond is a farmhouse. It is a sunny day.Tabernacle United Church 1890-2021 is engraved on a memorial boulder. Also engraved is a picture of the old church--a raised one storey typical of the late 19th.

Victoria Lawn for Day 8 #31DaysofGraves #Animal The Ricci Family memorial. We will revisit later in the month. Will it be a lamb or turkey or vegetarian entree for your Thanksgiving dinner?
A robed figure cast in white marble and set in a niche carries a staff in the right hand and a lamb in the left. A second lamb is at the foot of the figure. Carved flowers form an arch around the figure. The left side of the photo is shade. It is late afternoon.

Demo pending. My weekly detour to check in on the little cottage. Earthworks continue. Was hoping the bandaid was going to be ripped off but they tease open the ends. #disappearinglandscapes
A one and a half story centre hall plan awaits demolition. It is nightfall, the sky a grey-blue; the house is seen in the lower frame, almost in silhouette. Power lines are seen in the upper frame.

Back from away with account recovered; Bluesky is a curious animal. In the meantime a death in the family; months of dismantling a life well lived; trying to remember all the details in stories and photos now populated by people who are long dead. Onwards.
A paddock at sunset; it is an overcast and humid night. A horse grazes on tufty grass in the foreground; trees and a red-roofed barn in the background.

Racing across the Annapolis Valley on Day 19. This old farmhouse is undergoing renovations; pleased to have found the old doorway still intact. Mildly disappointed to have found so little of old Nova Scotia; most old properties have had money thrown at them, everything freshly re-sided and painted.
