I'm highlighting this case because we are seeing an unprecedented attack on Black life-which includes literary culture-on both sides of the pond. One solution is to entrust your work to Black people like @bibibakareyusuf.blacksky.app capable of understanding and promoting it! 4/4

Here, I argue that the move to "decolonise African Studies" struggles to address not just the paucity of knowledge of Africa in every single context but also its own extractive, voyeuristic, and colonial nature. folukeafrica.com/africa-missi...

If many of us are quiet about politics online nowadays, it isn't that we don't care and we're not mobilized offline. We talked about this for years. We warned them. So many who are upset now did not listen! They thought they knew better than we did. So much of this suffering was preventable.

"In a country of over 500 indigenous languages, where at least 29 are already extinct & more are endangered, this policy...is an act of erasure, an epistemic violence, a clarion call for recolonisation. Each lost language takes with it a universe of knowledge, aesthetics and ethics." Pure 🔥🔥
