i think i'm already souring on my gaster idea honestly, it makes more sense if carol is making her do it. more reasonable way to let her be the knight while maintaining her lack of agency

i definitely agree there's some kind of "original game", I just think it has to be a version of the story without the players involvement, meaning no weird route. I dont think the story should be reliant on player decisions they might not make.

i might be insane but I think there's decent evidence for this and it would tie the games main threads together really cleanly

this would make the weird route make more sense. you make noelle stronger to try and give her more agency over her own life and save her from gaster. unfortunately it wont work, and you will just end up controlling her yourself in the final boss

nah i dont think its a time loop (or some kind of kris noelle fusion) If i had to guess id say gaster is puppeting her. the game will end with the delta warriors fighting and killing a gaster controlled angel noelle

if you get past the hurdle of immediately discounting her it is actually really obvious

Im looking through the lyra example project since that has a functional menu and i just. cant find the code for it. why wont they tell me how it works. why is making a menu work with a gamepad an industry secret

obviously its possible, there are so many ue5 games with functional menus. but no one will tell me how! its a basic feature found in nearly every video game but unreal is almost hostile to controller input during menus and no one online has any solution.

I am so lost making menus in unreal engine. It feels like it would be simple considering how many prebuilt ui systems it has but If you want to support controller it all just falls to shit. no tutorial I have found offers any solution that isnt incredibly hacky or limited.

why would increased lightmap resolution break skylight occlusion. come on.

finally fixed it by resetting all of the lightmap settings to what they were in a previous file. after fixing it I decided to increase the lightmap resolution. it broke again.

maybe I should just use lumen during development and reconfigure it to use baked lighting later. that would save me a lot of time but it might just be kicking it down the road till its a massive technical challenge

"kris slash theory is wrong because it doesn't fit kris's characterisation" is doing it backwards. Kris slash theory is a very sensible reading of that scene. If that doesnt fit with your understanding of kris as a character that is a problem with how you understand kris, not with the theory.

the words Hopes and Dreams are often used as synonyms, so why list them both. Is it intentional repetition, like a legal doublet? or are they separate ideas? Dreams are how we process memories. they are inherently linked to the past. Hopes can come true. they are inherently tied to the future.
