Still photographs from 'The Burmese Harp,' Kon Ichikawa's masterpiece. Having not seen this film in a very long time, it was even more powerfully affecting than I imagined. Certainly one of the greatest anti-war films ever made.

Paul Lepage speaks French with a heavy accent, difficult to understand at best. On the other hand, the Prime Minister of Canada, Mark Carney, has a better command of the language and only a mild accent. I wouldn't trust Lepage to negotiate with a French poodle let alone the leader of Canada.

There were at least five very critical articles yesterday in national and local news about the Collins campaign. The piece by Michelle Cottle in the New York Times yesterday was very damning. Collins has sold her soul in order to get ahead, and this will haunt her. www.nytimes.com/2026/09/22/o...

Thank you! What a great piece. I've been looking for something like this, something I knew to be factual. All of her claims are of little concern to Mainers, and after the end of the year when the Big Ugly Bill hits Mainers full on, it will be even worse.

I read Céline's books when I was in my twenties, and they were important to me at the time. It was only later that I learned of his vile anti-Semitism. 'Voyage au bout de la nuit' is one of the greatest anti-war novels ever written. Nothing can change that.
