It's insane. His grandiosity is beyond wasteful--this is so off-track it's dangerous. And Republicans are evil for giving him cover and indulging his insanity. We have to make sure there's so much hell to pay for Republicans that Americans will never trust them again.

Voters are awake. At this point, corrupt shenanigans Trump/Republicans (this includes SCOTUS and billionaire sponsors) charge up an expensive credit card. Payments are deferred, but the bill WILL come due. We gotta make sure the cost is enough to bankrupt them and put them out of business for good.

To be clear as day, this is, of course, absolutely intentional. It has happened with every Republican president of my lifetime (with the notable exception of HW Bush). It's what the GOP does. www.wsj.com/economy/u-s-...

Folks, we need to tax the f$ck out of people like Bezos and Musk. Just ream the hell out of them. It's time for them to pay for what they're costing us.

I don't give a shit about the distinguished titles and robes. These people are dishonest, sleazy trash. They're self-deluded, white supremacist brutes, pretending to be dignified.🤨 Garbage.

The American right, or the Republican Party, and the SCOTUS it controls, is blatantly racist. As time passes, their racism will stand in stark relief. There's no plausible deniability--flimsy attempts to obfuscate are intolerable. The right wing of the Roberts SCOTUS deserves eternal infamy.

This is correct. There is no future of democratic self government in the US with an unreformed Supreme Court. The Court is riddled with corruption and abuses of power and rooting out that corruption is a sine qua non of civic democracy in the United States.

:::sigh::: It just never ends. These people are insane and current #Republicans need to be shunned forever for letting things get this crazy.

Exactly. The public knows how dishonest and manipulative Trump is and how much he tries to control the "message" and our perceptions of everything.

I was thinking the same thing. Now, it seems like the political media has been deformed so badly it can barely fulfill its purpose. And Trump's endless manipulation of it has brought participants' flaws into stark relief too--their own emotional investment in driving "narratives" distorts meaning.☹️

woah, like April 25 was also the date in 1792 when the Guillotine was first used in France - for the execution of highwayman Nicolas Pelletier - which is intense, right?

I really admire people like Aaron Rupar, reporters at Media Matters, etc who suffer through this crap and report on it. I don't know how they maintain mental health while doing it.

It was kinda funny, considering the ridiculous hypocrisy. But watching the audience uncritically absorb it, like a zombie call-response ritual, while staying oblivious to the Trump family's *real* raid on public funds and shady foreign dealings, it got sad and horrifying.

Right. They accept *actual* corruption from Republicans and save their OUTRAGE for the yarns spun by Fox and Congressional MAGAs about Democrats.

SO glad you're teaming up with #MSNOW to address the Trump family's blatant cash-grabbing and the outrageous hypocrisy of FoxNews. And I love that you're referring to all the great work Media Matters did to debunk all the conspiracy theories contrived by Fox/Republicans about the Biden family.

It would be the sensible thing to do. But as long as they think they can win with cheating / dirty tricks, they may continue their shenanigans until voters decide to throw them ALL out.🤨

2/Nope! What did we learn from when USAID was wrecked. Foreign aid is very good; placing it in an independent agency: very bad. Part of feeling helpless about changing society is you don’t have to be perfect, you have to be trying….

He's never been good at negotiating. He "made money" in real estate by engaging in fraud and stiffing creditors. The evidence of his being a mendacious swindler has existed for decades, but there's always been a seemingly endless supply of people who've been motivated to ignore it.🤷

YOU'RE the one with a comprehension problem. My original post was a response re the national organization, Indivisible. Did you get confused and think I was responding to an individual voter? Or to you, specifically? AGAIN: I think everyone should vote their preferences in primaries. Now. Go. Away.
010
Laura @beulahmo.bsky.social · 20/04/2026
Thinking about that has kept me up many, many nights. I just can't deflect or try to exist in a state of denial. I mean, I've tried.😣

Laura @beulahmo.bsky.social · 20/04/2026
Again. Not what I said and not what I want. It's disrespectful to continue using straw-man bullshit with me. I have no interest in arguing with you. Now leave me alone.
110
Laura @beulahmo.bsky.social · 20/04/2026
You've ignored what I said to pretend this is some other argument. Vote your preference in primaries. Fine! Good, even! But after primaries, the focus changes from personal preference to harm reduction. It's not complicated. Now stop using me as a straw man to pretend I'm trying to bully you.

Laura @beulahmo.bsky.social · 20/04/2026
Did I advocate for brow beating voters into unity? No. Stop acting like I'm implying that. Competitive primaries are appropriate. Voters voting and advocating for their favorite in primaries is appropriate. My anxiety is about national orgs participating in intra-party squabbling before primaries.
120
Laura @beulahmo.bsky.social · 20/04/2026
That's not my point. Everyone should vote for their favorite in the primary -- that's as it should be! But after the primaries, I want everyone to be able to put disappointment (or even resentment) aside so we can win the generals.

Laura @beulahmo.bsky.social · 20/04/2026
Damaging, huh? I'm skeptical but ever-hopeful. My fondest dream is seeing the vast majority of Americans realize that the entire modern right-wing movement is corrupt, destructive, and should be flushed down the toilet.

Laura @beulahmo.bsky.social · 20/04/2026
True. FDR understood the coalitions he was working with. Plenty wrong with it, but it's how he wrangled policy through.🙁

Laura @beulahmo.bsky.social · 20/04/2026
tbh, I hadn't paid much attention so I hadn't noticed. But I believe you, because this right here is truly poorly considered. Just stupid. I'm always anxious about holding our coalition together enough to win the frickin general election. This is NOT helpful.🤨
060
Laura @beulahmo.bsky.social · 20/04/2026
Indivisible wading into intra-party squabbling BEFORE primaries is dumb. You're going to undermine your own frickin name.🫩
041
Laura @beulahmo.bsky.social · 20/04/2026
You're wading into endorsements BEFORE primaries? You realize this will alienate folks who prefer whomever you DON'T endorse, right? Isn't that, ummm, inherently divisive?😑 Seems more appropriate for Indivisible to unify us AFTER the primaries, when it's time to focus our voting power.

Laura @beulahmo.bsky.social · 20/04/2026
Why are they endorsing people in *primaries* in the first place?? Isn't that an inherently divisive thing to do?? Cripes, man.🫩😒

Wow! Thank you for calling attention to this, because I didn't catch it. I just thought about the value of gains we'd made during my own lifetime since the 60s...but HE said "100 years ago" as if it had been a clear-eyed (and therefore superior) period of principled priorities. Yikes!😮

Yep. I don't like the framing. Knowing history is necessary because it takes a long time to effect change. And when ordinary folks have enjoyed tangible benefits from policy, it's always been stuff Democrats have worked DECADES for. If he's wise he would drive the bandwagon w/o first vandalizing it.
