Check out *our new paper! What's this got to do with cattle, I hear you ask! Well, fish feed isn't that different to fish feed really, and the framework used here could be used to evaluate the sustainability of any feeds. *I had a very teeny tiny part to play in the paper

Last week my Honours student Sam and team GPS tagged 100 sheep on a station in arid South Australia and set up a weather station! Sam is looking at the effect of wind direction and speed on grazing. Can't wait for the results!

If this is true, then it's scary. When I was 18 months old, I nearly died from encephalitis that I contracted as a complication from chicken pox. It is >10 x more likely to occur with measles. GET YOUR CHILDREN VACCINATED, PEOPLE

My PhD student Wes was on the ABC Country Hour today talking about his PhD project looking at enabling pastoralists on remote cattle stations to recycle more of their inorganic waste - at the moment there are few options apart from stockpiling www.abc.net.au/listen/progr... from about 40 mins in!

Top tip for when you have a long (daytime) layover in Melbourne... Woodlands Historic Park is 11 mins taxi drive from the airport, has a cafe, walking tracks, retired racehorses and lots of kangaroos! It's making our 9 hour layover much more pleasant!
