So a fun fact I overheard today is that the Hilton wasn't informed that Trump was going to attend the WHCA dinner until like...2 days ago. Probably not enough time for all the necessary security procedures. Anyway, I hope the staff is okay and not traumatized forever :(

Taylor Swift is the new Riverdale, in that I send my partner things she actually says and they go "that can't be real"

@appmtnclub.bsky.social why are you yielding to the whims of a fascist? I guarantee that if you stood up to it, people would rally behind you. Instead you're gonna make liberals mad and Trump still isn't gonna like you.
A continuation of AMC's DEI page from December 2024. There's a photo of a Black woman presumably leading a hike in a forest. The text reads: Our DEI efforts are both a priority and a work in progress. Highlighted below are some key areas of focus: Representation Thanks to funding provided by AMC’s Boston, Worcester, and Western Mass chapters, this year we are hosting a series of DEI speakers who talk about the intersection of the outdoors, exclusion, and inclusion. Presentation topics have focused on the experiences of BIPOC hikers, queer representation in the outdoors, and a conversation about land acknowledgements. At AMC we are supporting affinity groups as avenues of connecting historically underrepresented communities in the outdoors.
The same section of AMC's DEI page, but from today. The same photo of a Black woman in a forest is present. The text now reads: Our efforts reflect our commitment to making the outdoors a place for everyone.
Highlighted below are some key areas of focus: People
AMC is powered by people. Our members, volunteers, and donors bring our work to life. Together we provide a wide range of activities that are just right for anyone interested in exploring the outdoors. Whether you’re looking for a relaxed hike on an accessible trail in your town or ice climbing in New Hampshire’s White Mountains, we’re hosting the perfect trip for you.

Comparing @appmtnclub.bsky.social #DEI webpage in late December vs today. Cowards. If you've ever donated to AMC, write or call and let them know your thoughts!
The December 2024 AMC DEI page, which is titled DEI and says the following: As a nearly 150-year-old organization, AMC acknowledges the history of exclusionary practices rooted in its policies, values, traditions, and physical infrastructure. Today we are critically assessing what we do, how we do it, and what assumptions underlie “the way things are.” As a leader in the conservation and recreation communities, AMC hopes to set an example for inclusive and equitable practices while working with and learning from our partners and peers. We know that our mission cannot succeed without engaging a broader community of people from wide-ranging backgrounds and experiences who love and want to care for the outdoors. We rely on a cross-organizational DEI Committee that includes staff and volunteers, which works alongside a Board of Directors DEI Committee to help us identify opportunities for improvement and learning. Constructive feedback from our community is welcome and helps to shape our work.AMC's DEI page today, which is titled "a Welcoming Community". Webpage text says: As stewards of the natural world, we’re committed to fostering a welcoming community where people who embody a wide range of experiences and perspectives can come together to explore, protect, and connect with nature. We know that meaningful progress starts from within, which is why our cross-organizational Community Engagement Committee, alongside our Board of Directors, works to ensure we are always learning, improving, and making space for new voices. We welcome feedback from our community—it helps us grow, evolve, and create more accessible AMC experiences. Our vision is clear: a future where nature is healthy, loved, and protected, and where every person has the opportunity to find joy, adventure, and belonging in the outdoors.

Some Nancy Mace lore I want to share: her biggest brag is that she was the first woman to graduate from the Citadel, where I'm sure they always had separate changing facilities and bathrooms built especially for her womanliness and she never ever had to see or be within 10 feet of any penises
Transphobic rep. Nancy Mace's Instagram bio, which says "Congresswoman (SC-01), former Waffle House waitress, first woman to graduate from The Citadel."

Not the @nytimes.com newsletter misgendering Eddie Izzard when the article itself clarifies her pronouns in the FIRST PARAGRAPH 🤡
A screenshot of today's NY Times The Morning newsletter advertising an interview with comedian Eddie Izzard. Under a photo of the comedian, the blurb reads "I recently spoke with the comedian Eddie Izzard about his move into politics, coming out as trans, and how losing his mother made him suspicious of love as an adult."A screenshot of the NYT Magazine article which was blurbed in the newsletter. The first paragraph begins "Eddie Izzard is one of her generation's most acclaimed and successful comedians. The 71-year-old, who uses she/her pronouns..."
