💪 Family child care providers sent a clear message to Governor Healey today: fund our raises NOW! Family child care workers are essential to Massachusetts families and communities. They deserve fair compensation that reflects the essential work they do and the rising costs they face.

We're celebrating the signing of the Freedom to Read Bill keeping book bans out of MA schools and libraries! Cheers to all of those who used their strong voices to advocate for us all to be able to "read what we damn well please!"

A partial quote from Zachary Clemente, President of the Boston Comic Arts Foundation: "...The goal of these bans is to deny readers the opportunity to connect with books that reflect multiple perspectives as well as deny cartoonists and writers the outlet of free expression through publication. Massachusetts says: we will read what we damn well please!"

On a sunny afternoon, a black unicorn finger puppet with a rainbow mane is being worn by someone with their finger sticking up in the middle of the frame. The unicorn’s arms stick out slightly in either direction as if it’s doing a happy wiggle. A metal chain link fence, grass, and a bit of the city street is visible in the background.

It’s a fruit. It’s a veggie. It’s a fidget. It’s a jar. Whatever you feel best describes this tomato container, it’s a perfect place to hold house keys, loose change, or other soft little buddies. Lupin made this while thinking of all the tomatoes his mom has grown in her garden. 🍅

Resting on top of a black velvet fabric is a needle felted tomato container. It’s about the size of an actual Brandywine tomato, very bright red, with light green leaves on the lid.

The same tomato container is now open, revealing the deep red wool of the inside, and the leafy lid resting beside it on the left.

Let’s not forget to give credit where credit is due this #PollinatorWeek 💀🌕🌹 These moths are hard-working members of the Night Shift, and yes, they are just as fuzzy as they look!

Three needle felted moths are arranged in a triangle on top of a black velvet fabric. The Luna moth is in the top left with bright white wings and iridescent colors reminiscent of the aurora borealis, the Rosy maple moth is in the top right with bright yellow, orange, pink, and red across its wings, and the deaths head Hawkmoth is at the bottom point of the triangle with brown wings interspersed with black and rusty orange; there is a skull shaped design in the middle of its back, which gives it its name.

Don’t be afraid. This great white only uses his powerful jaws to hold your trinkets and help you keep track of your house keys. 💍🗝️

Resting atop a black velvet fabric is the needle felted head of a great white shark. Its triangular dorsal fin sticks straight out from the top of its head, on either side of its face are round black eyes, it’s wide open mouth is adorned with many sharp white teeth, and it has a house key resting inside it’s red mouth.

It’s a Water Bear! It’s a Moss Piglet! It’s a Tardigrade! This typically microscopic extremophile was felted by Lupin who’s fascinated by these veracious omnivores who’d be super scary if they were us sized, and not smaller than a poppy seed. #BestFeltedFriends #Tardigrade #BlindArtist #FiberArts

Standing atop a gray fabric is a needle felted tardigrade. It’s body is white, and its eyes and legs are dark purple. It’s body has four spherical segments with a pair of triangular legs attached to each, while it’s head is more of a conical shape with a Pointy snout that curves down toward the ground, as if searching for food.

On this #NationalBlackCatDay , we wanted to pay tribute to our own gregarious feline. 🐈‍⬛ Nina was introduced to him by the lovely folks from For Pet’s Sake Rescue in Long Beach Mississippi in the late summer of 2023.

On a cloudy fall day sits a black cat with bright yellow green eyes. He is wearing a hot pink harness and matching leash, which coils away from him in the grass. A few inches in front of him stands a smaller needle felted black cat made to resemble him with a similar wide eyed expression. Some mulch and the trunk of a tree is visible behind each of them as they hang out in the yard.

One of the best parts about #FiberArts is spending time with the farmers and their creatures. From the 5 year olds showing their first #Sheep 🐑 to the early 30s #Artisan selling goat’s milk soap, 🐐 to the women in their 80s who are still spinning and dying #Yarn 🧶 Everybody is always so nice.

On a scale of one to ten, we rate this shetland sheep… 100. Easy. Obviously. No other possible choice. This little buddy hopped up to say hi to Nina while we were at the Massachusetts Sheep and Woolcraft Fair this past May, and we still talk about them a lot. Wouldn’t you? #BestFeltedFriends

Nina, a short curly brown haired human, wearing a gingham patterned dress, denim jacket, and carrying an abundance of tote bags filled to the brim with wool roving and yarn, is leaning over to pet a black Shetland sheep, which is standing on its back legs braced against a metal fence to say hello. Light suffuses the space, the wooden walls and metal fences of other animal pens visible in the background.

Howdy, We are not just posting this mole in the mulch because they’re adorable. It’s also because this tactile explorer fits in with today’s theme. 🦯

A needle felted mole is sitting atop a pile of mulch with a bit of a tree trunk in the background. The main fur of its body is a dark, chestnut brown, whereas the fur on its front and back paws are a lighter shade, more like coffee With a little too much cream. The mole’s eyes are small, and mostly covered in fur to emphasize the fact that it does not use its vision, to dig tunnels, eat worms, and be cute.
