i would love to say that people care about trans people enough that this would be a dealbreaker. but between knowing that he'd stab anyone in the back, and that he will gladly humiliate himself for conservatives, all to gain a chance at more power? voters will be completely disgusted by him.

newsom's electability problem is not that he isn't progressive enough to pass a purity test. it's that the current political moment is dominated by strongmen. someone willing to wave the white flag without a fight on some of the easiest political fights around is too much of a whimp to succeed.
