Speaking narrowly as a software engineer, AI largely eliminates the drudgery of actually writing code. Leaving me to focus on abstraction, high level design, intent etc. I wish it would better handle UI as that’s something I’ve never particularly enjoyed despite having very strong opinions about.

Possibly not. The subtexts of the texts they are trained on likely persist. LLM sycophancy is a barely concealed commercial subtext. And both US and Chinese LLMs show clear political biases. I’m temped to argue that the most interesting things that LLMs do for us ARE thanks to subtext.

Wow. That’s nuts. Most states limit SDDs to about 100lbs unladen and 10/12mph. A few allow them up to 500lbs and similar lower speeds. I wouldn’t want a 350lb robot on a sidewalk or even a bike lane.

DoorDash =/= Starship. DoorDash isn’t putting a 350lb 20mph robot on sidewalks. It’s replacing road vehicles that are travelling longer distances and making multiple stops. Starship is relatively short distance and intended to be pedestrian safe. Starships robots are beach-cooler sized.
