It's already happened. Nine Inch Nails quoted Clive Barker ("stale incense old sweat and lies" Barker's In the Hills The Cities//NiN's Sin) and AC/DC's soundtrack for Stephen King's Maximum Overdrive (Trucks). I guess a musican I love would have to do a soundtrack for me. #horrorwriterschat

Often, my stories have a soundtrack. A song I listen to on repeat that shapes the flavor of the story. As in, for best results, listen to this while you read. Sometimes I hear a song and want to write about it (Nitzer Ebb "Getting Closer" for instance) #horrorwriterschat

I use music emotionally. So an angry song if I need to write angry stuff. A sad song if I need to make readers cry.

Bert Piedmont author and editor @bertpiedmont.bsky.social · 30/09/2026

I'm Miss Bert, I write horror and weird stuff. I like my music hard and loud. The soundtrack to my upcoming novel Leet-Z was In This Moment's song "The Purge." The soundtrack to my next novel (sequel to Leet-Z), Tick, is DeathByRomy's "HellHound." #horrorwriterschat #music

I'm Miss Bert and once again I doubt I'll get through all 4 questions but I'll try. I write and edit horror and horror adjacent stories. The most horrible thing I've seen lately is the footage of the flooding from Nepal. It's unreal. That's cosmic horror. It doesn't care. #horrorwriterschat

In Fat Monster, the monsters represented society preying on fat people. And the ultimate question was who did the title refer to, who was the fat monster? I think monsters are always a metaphor in horror. #horrorwriterschat
