Twin Cities R.O.C.K. has a Minnesota State Fair booth in the Education Bldg where you can pick up a paper version of their more thorough list of gluten free offerings at the 2026 event, or scan this QR, which I grabbed from the paper copy my SO found there on Opening Day. www.twincitiesrock.org

BRAVO! Concrete tips re: handling ICE when they arrive at private establishments in Minnesota -- insist on a paper warrant, priority number one. Phones out! Record, record, record. See alt-text for full content if you cannot view the screen cap.

Article excerpt from Bring Me The News:

"Hola Arepa said it is sharing these tips with other restaurants:

Unless agents have a signed judicial warrant, they cannot enter a private area like the kitchen without your permission.
Even if they lie and say they don't need a warrant, stand your ground and insist that you need the paperwork.
Have other staff or people present record them and everything they are saying. (People doing unlawful things hate being caught in the act.)
You have the right to refuse service and you can ask them to leave your private property if they don't have a warrant.
Call in back up. Groups like Monarca have a rapid response line (612-441-2881) and will send constitutional observers from the community.
Make sure everyone gets home safely. Give rides and make sure you don't have anyone following you."

Tonight's reading selection while participating in my local indie's @libro.fm #BannedBooksWeek #ReadIn. It's a non-fiction Junior Library Guild selection (2023) that would make for an excellent community read and should be on the TBR list for high school educators/admin and school board members.

via @jkbjournalist.bsky.social at the hellsite re: Pesach Lattin reporting that Ghislane Maxwell has possibly inked her own sweetheart deal with Trump / AG Todd Blanche a la what Former Secretary Acosta wrangled with Epstein to leave confinement. Includes full alt text w. image.

from Julie K. Brown: If true, it sounds just like Epstein's sweetheart deal. His chauffeur picked him up in the morning and he spent all day outside the jail in Palm Beach -- going shopping, having women visit him at his office, eating lunch in the park, etc. He returned to the jail about 10 p.m. All the did was sleep in the jail at night.

via @pesach_lattin on Twitter: According to the Resort that Ghisalaine (sic) Maxwell is staying, she is allowed TO LEAVE the facility, visit the neighboring town during the day. Basically, Trump has let her go -- and made it clear if she helps him, she will be free. TIME/DATE STAMP: 1:15 PM on Aug 7, 2025

Further yet, it seems that a quick thinking officer made the association between the Champlin police response at Hoffman's house and the proximity to Hortman's - from same article you shared

From Mpls Star Tribune article shared up thread: "12:44 p.m. - Brooklyn Park police Sgt. Rielly Nordan had just wrapped up his shift early Saturday morning when he heard that Champlin police were responding to a shooting at a home — and one of the victims was a state senator.

Nobody knew then that lawmakers, or anyone other than Sen. John Hoffman and his wife, Yvette, were being targeted. But Nordan knew that Rep. Melissa Hortman lived nearby, in Brooklyn Park, and would be worried." - continued in accompanying image

continuation from prior accompanying image: "“His shift is over, he’s taken off his gear,” Brooklyn Park Police Chief Mark Bruley said. “And as he’s walking out, he looks at a couple officers, and says, ‘Hey, just to be safe, why don’t you go up and just check on Hortman’s house?’”

It was a proactive decision from an experienced officer that allowed police to first confront suspected shooter Vance Boelter, starting an exhaustive manhunt that would end 43 hours later in a farm field near Green Isle in Sibley County."

"The most common justifications for censorship provided by complainants were false claims of illegal obscenity for minors; inclusion of LGBTQIA+ characters or themes; and covering topics of race, racism, equity, and social justice."

“The movement to ban books is not a movement of parents, but a movement of partisans who seek to limit our freedom to read and make different choices about things that matter,” said Deborah Caldwell-Stone, Director of ALA’s Office for Intellectual Freedom. “All who care about libraries and personal liberty must stand together and join the movement to halt this assault on the freedom to read."

Excerpt from BookRiot.com link | "Over the last several years, public institutions including public libraries and public schools, have been plagued by book challenges citing the “reviews” from BookLooks. Some have gone so far as to believe they should purchase a subscription to the review system which has no rhyme or reason for how it chooses its books nor any credentialing of its volunteer reviewers. Today, there are public schools like that in Anoka County, Minnesota and public libraries, like that in Warren County, New Jersey, seeking to utilize the review site as if it is anywhere near the caliber of legitimacy as the long-running, professionally-developed review sources librarians have turned to for generations." | NOTE: It is NOT anywhere near that caliber of legitimacy.

Excerpt from Intelligencer link | Multiple women told me that a whisper network about Rubenfeld operated on campus, and that as law-school students, they were warned by peers to be careful around him.
