That final paragraph really hits the nail on the heard regarding this entire issue: There hasn't been a low *quantity* for games for a dozen years. The problem is that while churn out junk products has gotten faster, quality takes care & skill to develop, & no AI model can accelerate good taste
"The other piece of Sweeney's announcement is that it'll make game development faster, that Epic Games can make more stuff in less time. And I don't know, man, but do we even want that? Why is that the goal? Hundreds of games are released on Steam each month; more are released on mobile. A lot of it is already pretty bad. Generative AI is making it worse. I don't think the problem with video games is that there aren't enough of them, or that Fortnite content isn't being released fast enough."

Happy Canadian #Thanksgiving! We did our family meal yesterday, but in addition to the olives, cheeses, and crisps for the appetizers, plus some apple crumble pie with ice cream, we decided to do something unique and heathier for my father and the rest of the family on Sunday 😊

Spooky board game except the slasher movie villains and monsters are replaced with classic D&D monsters. It's apparently more complicated than the original, but I found it a tense but very fun coop game!

If the kind of advisers the party has today were around in 1941, they would've told FDR he should try to appease these type of clowns:
Americans protesting involvement in World War 2 in 1941. They are carrying signs with slogans such as "Hitler has not attacked us; Why attack Hitler?" and "Why not peace with Hitler?"

One of my favourite recurring moments online is seeing Americans in awe that No Name is a real brand of products in Canada, and that you can buy products that look exactly as minimalist as these:
Four No Name branded products. In order, top left to bottom right, clockwise, the products are cola, cocoa, apple beverage, and mayonnaise.

It was VERY much a splurge, but out of all of the food vendors that, I opted for the lobster roll. 26 bucks with the taxes included, but the lobster's seasoning and especially the texture were incredibly good! Definitely worth the splurge. Also, beer camper/trailer!

Downtown Winnipeg's got a cute lil street festival going on this weekend called, well, The Weekender! It's always a joy seeing all of unique and interesting local vendors at these sort of events, but I love the local art the most. The collaborative displays in the 1st pics are especially sweet 😊

I know many people are turned away from things like states, concepts of power etc. It's generally a good impulse to wish to avoid becoming a tyrant, even a "benevolent" one. But even Liberalism had to rain literal hellfire in WWII to protect equality between man. Pacifism is a surrender of agency.
Pacifism is objectively pro-fascist. This is elementary common sense. If you hamper the effort of one side, you aautomatically help out that of the other. Nor is there any real way of remaining outside of such a war as the present one (meaning WWII in the original quote's context).
In practice, "he that is not with me is against me."

Peter Cullen reminiscing on his brother's words before he auditioned for Optimus Prime are something that'll always stick with me. "Be strong enough to be kind." It takes real strength to be kind in a world of hostility, hatred, & danger. Especially in the real world. Rest in peace, Peter.

You know things are becoming utterly bleak for workers' future prospects when not even The Economist of all papers can put a positive spin on what's happening to labour itself:
Still, no ambitious scheme seems likely anytime soon. The government guards its pennies when contemplating subsidies, and Xi Jinping, China’s president, has professed an aversion to “welfarism”. As more robotaxis take to the streets, ride-share drivers will have to scrape by. So will Mr Li, the actor, while his bosses flourish.
In an office tower in Zhengzhou, Zhang Lei runs Mengchang Media, a studio. “AI-crafted microdramas—creativity beyond imagination,” reads one slogan. Mr Zhang used to have ten crews shooting every day.
Now, row after row of humans called choukashi—literally “card-drawers”, an AI-era term that calls to mind randomly drawing cards and hoping for a good one—write prompts specifying, for instance, a close-up of a character’s furrowed brows, “his expression full of gratitude and expectation”. Software spits out seconds-long scenes that a choukashi tweaks and sequences. There is not a cameraman, lighting crew or actor in sight. ■

Out of all of the decisions that Judge Alsup made in the Anthropic case, the reasonings behind that fair use ruling were especially baffling given the implications. The destruction & hoarding of knowledge for profit is "transformative?" That's not transformative; That's strip-mining the commons.
Regardless of its original intentions, the federal judge in the copyright lawsuit from authors against Anthropic, William Alsup, found that Anthropic’s creation of digital copies of the books was legal specifically because the books were destroyed.

“Here, every purchased print copy was copied in order to save storage space and to enable searchability as a digital copy,” Alsup wrote in his ruling. “The print original was destroyed. One replaced the other. And, there is no evidence that the new, digital copy was shown, shared, or sold outside the company.”

This, Alsup said, was “clearly transformative” and therefore qualified as fair use under Section 107 of the Copyright Act.

Christopher Nolan is conservative in the classical sense if you know anything about his filmography. Heck, even just the Dark Knight Trilogy has a lot of anti-Occupy Wall Street messaging, for 1 example of. The issue those right-wingers have with Nolan is that he's not a *racist* conservative.
Twiter post by Neil Renic (@NC_Renic)
"Right wing culture really is in a nadir. The Odyssey has plenty of themes that would resonate with small-c conservatives - sacred tradition; home and rootedness; generational duty, etc. All ignored in favour of naked racial animus."

The question of the day, if not the year:
Yeah, sure, the public will become very rich, says the man who has used his position as president to inside trade his way to insane wealth. And how, exactly, will “the public” get back this money? And how will the government ensure that if the currently quite-inflated AI market drops that “the public” isn’t left holding the bag?

Statements like that, despite what the White House Twitter Interns may think, are probably the most effective communist propaganda out there today. Even moreso when it's heard by demographics that are already despised by the current leadership even IF they are patriotic.
A comic where a white stick figure says "I hate that the government is against my trans and immigrant criends, but this is still MY countr-" before he is shoved by a blue figure with the American flag for a head onto a side with red stick figures. The red side catches him, which prompts the blue American to yell "Why are you siding with the bad guys?!"

"Three quarters of Canadians back a full ban on social media for those under 16" I'd like to see what demographics they got for that polling result, but good God is that a disappointly high number of people who support these bad social media bans 😬 (From the front page of the Winnipeg Sun) #cdnpoli
A paragraph from the front page of the Winnipeg Sun newspaper for June 11th, 2026. The full article is about a proposed social media ban for people under 16 by the Canadian federal government.
online harms could be exempted, allowing kids under 16 to keep using them. The bill is not expected to place any restrictions on minors using AI chatbots.
The push for restrictions on youth social media use has wide public support. An Angus Reid sur- vey released in late March found three-quarters of Canadians back a full ban on social media for those under 16, while 13 percent oppose it and five percent strongly oppose it. Among households with children, 70 percent supported a ban.

A series of fake news screencaps about how "it's over." The oldest ones are tucked into the top right corner, while the most recent addition is front and center. From oldest to newest:
A new reporter with an exhausted look on his facs, next to a black box that says "IT'S OVER". The ticker reads "it's never been more over than it is now."
The next image features the same man looking noticeable older. The ticker now reads "it's even more over than previously thought possible."
The final image replaces the man with a CGI skeleton. This final image's news ticker reads "I'm already in hell and it still finds new ways to be over."
