If you just like session, guitar in general, a really phenomenal YouTube channel is by Tim Pierce, a noted session player of the last 30 years. You learn so much about what it's like. It's often very guitar techy as well, but you could find ones you like

Yeah he's a great player. I especially like how he seems to hate morrissey. Ofc Duane died at 24, but did sessions for Aretha, boz scaggs, etc. many other rock legend session players from the 60s 70s golden studio era. Like any steely Dan player.....

Ok, it's Friday night and I should be doing something fun, but instead I want to write about US relationships with the world post-Trump. I want to start by recognizing some sentiments I see pretty frequently here on bsky.app and then systematically dismantling them because they're all bad.

The problem is Jain is wrong about literally everything that involves a human element. With so-called good candidates, the optical stuff is very easy to judge, and it is overrated. But you have to watch the candidates' strategic moves as well and that often takes a campaign to be underway to see.

Old enough to remember being told Democrats had a chronic image problem that would cost them the midterms.

Yes, we were told so many times by the branding experts. So many branding experts. Talking about the Democratic brand. The brand is ruined. The brand is destroyed. The brand is terrible. It's almost as if they really don't understand politics.

Yes and big reason is that for many of them, there are psychological problems (e.g. depression, egocentric knowitall-ism, etc) and maturity problems that prevent them from being good faith and evidence-based observers of politics, policy and life

Yes, corruption is a broad concept, and presents a lot of opportunities, but there could be narrow support for a lot of things we would want to do. But this really sets the table well for the next 4 years

Why yes I understand politics too. That's why I know how horrible the next elections are going to go! And I know the reasons too. You see, there's no reason politics and parties can be perfectable just as humans are. Someday the Democrats will wake up and be better than the rest of humanity.

Shameful. And the new Dem Intelligence Committees need to investigate it. Ukraine should attack every energy production and data center it can. This is showing how weak Russia is right now as they squeeze what they can out of Trump before the midterms. This is Putin's desperate last try.

Everyone is free to learn what the definition of war crimes is, and to look up numbers of casualties, numbers of combatants, and compare against other data. You're free! Or, just block people because it makes you feel.... something...enjoy! Or use the g word more! G! G!

Ossoff, Brown, Colum, Peltola and Hamilton are each running very different campaigns, but the common element is a candidate who knows who they are and what they're good at and sticking to that. People looking too hard after election day are probably going to miss this, which is really basic stuff.

Excerpts from Michael Lewis on DOGE (Guardian article). 1. Gavin Kliger, white nationalist, refused to shake hands with the Black IRS staffer who briefed him on privacy issues. Or pay attention. Kliger now has a defense start-up valued at 1.4B thanks to DOGE. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026...
Phyllis, who loved working for Kathleen and saw falling on hand grenades as part of her job, never told her how this one had felt. She knew Gavin had expressed enthusiasm for white nationalists, and he likely knew that she knew. She tried to break the ice by walking in with her hand extended; Gavin stared at it and declined to shake it, though he had shaken the hands of the white men who had offered them. “He was kind of cool towards me,” said Phyllis. Before she could even start the briefing, he said, You know, I’ve heard these rules before at other agencies. Yes, she said, but these rules are different, because no other agency is governed by this privacy law, and this law can get you thrown in jail very quickly. As she walked him through the basics – how you can’t use your personal phone for business, how if you happen to so much as glimpse a form 1040 with someone’s name on it you must avert your eyes – Gavin played on his phone. “He’s multitasking right in front of me, typing and texting,” said Phyllis. “It was, here’s a routine that I must endure.”

Tapper is a cynical opportunist. As such, he can be trusted to be a reliable indicator of which way the wind is blowing. This and other moments suggest he believes maga is a spent force. He might evem mention Trump's dementia after the midterms.

Whatever you are calling the fight strategy is just one strategy among others and it happens to be the one that you want. It isn't proven anywhere to be the one that moves the most votes. The voting populace is extremely diverse, with different motivations for voting

No, we know from issue salience polling that Israel was not a deciding factor in 2024. Did not even crack the top 10 of issues. Foreign events are almost never a factor in USA elections. We got decades of polling history on this. Meanwhile, inflation was present globally and incumbents lost globally
