I actually really love the pale grey background contrasted against the super-saturated characters. I'm trying to learn more from Chinese artists and designers who do so much cool stuff with contrast as well as composition.

It will be split as you say. But due to the mechanics of printing a book it will likely have some extra pages to make sure that the page count is divisible by 4. So short answer yes.
