Bennett McKenna @bennettmckenna.bsky.social · 06/10/2026This is going to be great... And I have three months to think of how to word the questions I have been mumbling to myself. 010
Bennett McKenna @bennettmckenna.bsky.social · 03/10/2026There's a group of Americans on my train playing true crime 20 questions. Bizarre to hear a cannibalism case described with yes or no answers. 000
Bennett McKenna @bennettmckenna.bsky.social · 29/09/2026Paramilitary groups are murdering and killing people on the streets. Sorry, individual states, but it's not ignorance of your beautiful foliage that's stopping people from visiting. Your tourist ads have limited power. 000
Bennett McKenna @bennettmckenna.bsky.social · 25/09/2026This blanket is for my baby niece. I love her a lot and hope it stays with her for a long time. 021
Bennett McKenna @bennettmckenna.bsky.social · 24/09/2026I wanted it to sit neatly and withstand toddler play! 110
Bennett McKenna @bennettmckenna.bsky.social · 24/09/2026When I say two years, I don't mean I started this two years ago, left it for ages, and have only recently restarted it. I mean for the past two years, there's not been a moment when I've had free hands, because every time I've sat down I've picked up needles. Moss stitch, man. 251
Bennett McKenna @bennettmckenna.bsky.social · 24/09/2026After two years, I've finally finished my flag blanket. It's knit in approximately 280 rows of moss stitch using ColourLab DK by West Yorkshire Spinners. 1232
Bennett McKenna @bennettmckenna.bsky.social · 20/09/2026I was gobsmacked that this one didn't turn out huge. I thought it was going to put her on everyone's radar. I still think it should have done. 151
Bennett McKenna @bennettmckenna.bsky.social · 16/09/2026Fascinated that you've had to discourage pizza horror as a genre. Do lots of people find pizzas particularly horrific? 120
Bennett McKenna @bennettmckenna.bsky.social · 09/09/2026As they get older, they'll yell sociably with excitement. That's less acceptable for adults, but screaming is pretty normal for preteens (and for teens in some circumstances). 111
Bennett McKenna @bennettmckenna.bsky.social · 09/09/2026A combination of reasons! When they're very small, they struggle with volume control in general; on a very practical level, they've not yet learnt how to make themselves quieter. They'll yell because they're excited or just feeling a lot of emotions and see no reason not to. 110
Bennett McKenna @bennettmckenna.bsky.social · 09/09/2026Apples are delicious and come in a variety of different tastes and colours. You can also make pie with them. 100
Bennett McKenna @bennettmckenna.bsky.social · 04/09/2026An interesting time to announce this considering what else Anthropic are currently in the news for. 1100
Bennett McKenna @bennettmckenna.bsky.social · 03/09/2026What a beautiful mask! I'm always jealous of how pretty the American ones are. 010
Bennett McKenna @bennettmckenna.bsky.social · 25/08/2026There are so many states I would have liked to visit... But not now, and maybe not ever. Sympathy for not being able to fill in any more of the map. 000
Bennett McKenna @bennettmckenna.bsky.social · 23/08/2026Sounds like happiness is being able to afford a spare room. 020
Bennett McKenna @bennettmckenna.bsky.social · 21/08/2026The fact he was being given the equivalent of £12m a year from his estate probably made the looks much easier. So the real question is, why aren't today's rich going wild commissioning artisans to make them equally fabulous outfits? 050

Bennett McKenna @bennettmckenna.bsky.social · 16/08/2026I have an ex who was a professional, orchestral level woodwind player. Her speciality instrument was the recorder. She got a recorder scholarship that paid for her entire university education. She had recorders that needed insurance. Recorders: they're a real instrument! 100
Bennett McKenna @bennettmckenna.bsky.social · 10/08/2026AO3 lets you choose Middel Englisch as a language for fics. Unfortunately, unlike with the Eald Englisċ tag (which is owned by Tolkien nerds), nobody's yet used it accurately. 010
Bennett McKenna @bennettmckenna.bsky.social · 10/08/2026Doctors can be incredibly short sighted about elder patients and miss things that would be obvious in younger ones. 030
Bennett McKenna @bennettmckenna.bsky.social · 10/08/2026When I was a teenager, a close friend's elderly father was incredibly unwell. He was delirious, refusing food, and wetting himself. I suggested testing his blood glucose. It was in the high teens. None of his doctors had thought to do this. 230
Bennett McKenna @bennettmckenna.bsky.social · 10/08/2026I don't think anyone will be surprised to learn Harry Potter fans have priorities that are in complete opposition to real people and culture. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article... 120
Bennett McKenna @bennettmckenna.bsky.social · 06/08/2026Incredibly impressive you can do this so casually - if I had to ditch 50k, there's a good chance I'd be crying about it. 110

Bennett McKenna @bennettmckenna.bsky.social · 05/08/2026Remembered as a solitary genius by straight people whose entire experience of him is that awful biopic, maybe. Queer mathematicians I know think of him as a sociable role model who was charming at parties. 1236

Bennett McKenna @bennettmckenna.bsky.social · 03/08/2026A lot of people are just posting his article where he said he wanted to shag kids, which isn't fair. We should also remember him as a virulent racist who had several IPSO complaints upheld against him and who cheated on his wife, impregnating a 22-year-old he then assaulted. 1429

Bennett McKenna @bennettmckenna.bsky.social · 29/07/2026Joanne has been trying to persuade companies that the kids are still into Harry Potter. They aren't. The TV show is the last desperate attempt to keep the money rolling. Gen Z have no attachment to the IP and see it as something boring their parents once enjoyed. 050
Bennett McKenna @bennettmckenna.bsky.social · 28/07/2026My Scouts are of the opinion that Harry Potter is something only the most cringe of parents are into. 1240

Bennett McKenna @bennettmckenna.bsky.social · 26/07/2026Haha yeah, I suspect having memorised the train timetables and maps, Mina Harker style, doesn't get you a railcard for being badass. It should though. 030
Bennett McKenna @bennettmckenna.bsky.social · 26/07/2026If you're based in the UK, be aware that the eligibility for a Disabled Persons Railcard is expanding in September, and you might now be able to get one even if you couldn't before. www.disabledpersons-railcard.co.uk/eligibility-... 06162

Bennett McKenna @bennettmckenna.bsky.social · 23/07/2026Were people who play videos on public transport never taught manners? Is politeness a code of conduct which, like chivalry, is now seen as old-fashioned and irrelevant? And if so, what comes next? 010
Bennett McKenna @bennettmckenna.bsky.social · 23/07/2026Was not at all surprised to learn this morning that the humans in Thomas the Tank Engine speak Sudric, a Goidelic language family conlang. Of course a guy who builds a world of trains included a conlang. 000
Reposted by Bennett McKennaJess Glanz @jessglanz.bsky.social · 17/07/2026Just made my own pesto! I bet most people don’t know that with just a little effort, a bunch of ingredients that cost more bought separately than together, and SO MUCH CLEANUP, you can make something only slightly worse than you would buy in a jar at the supermarket. And it’ll go off quicker, too 💖 021
Bennett McKenna @bennettmckenna.bsky.social · 17/07/2026The BBC asked the White House if they considered American women in the military "low-T". The White House refused to acknowledge women in the military existed. 000
