No, sorry, no more Finn stories. Oddly, I had fallen out of love with Vikings, at least those Vikings, by the end of Stormcrow. I have another Viking story I'd like to write one day, though. Cheers - Ben

It won't be long! Just need to sign the new contract.

Ahh, glad you liked Sands. Did you know there's another novella about Tullus, as a 17 y.o. lad before he joined the legions? Look up Io Saturnalia! on Amazon.

Many thanks, I'm delighted to hear you're enjoying A Land Aflame. I thoroughly recommend Andy Farrell's book. I actually dedicated a book to him a couple of years ago (and one to Joe Schmidt a few years before, and one to every player ever to pull on a green jersey before that). I quite like rugby!

Cannae has a review in The Times, no less. One of September's pick of historical novels!

It's been an age. Sorry about taking so long. At last it's done.* *Of course it's not completely done, it's just the latest edit. There will be a lot more editing and tweaking, but I *have* written the last page of the last book in the Hannibal series

Me too, but I worry about number of games the players, particularly English players, are being *asked* to play. The IRFU manages their players better, but here I believe many are playing 30, even 40 games/year. ABs keep their internationals to fewer than 30/year. Bloody clubs have2much power here.

Ben Kane @benkaneauthor.bsky.social · 16/03/2026

What a game, eh? I really feel for Scotland. I would have loved them2have won the 6N. Their rugby has been sublime - that game against France! And what about England vs. France? IMO, Wales aside (altho improving), there isn't that much between the other teams. Each can beat another on a given day.

Cannae, Rome's bloodiest defeat. Considered Hannibal's masterpiece, and yet Rome would go on to become a superpower, whereas Carthage fell to dust. Can't wait to see how a master craftsman of sword-wielding fiction like @benkaneauthor.bsky.social deals with it. Two weeks to go on Audible.

Hi John. Sorry, I haven't been on here for 2 months (didn't think it was that long). Yes, I am Ben Kane the author! Pleased to meet you, sir. Did you know that Hannibal 4 is coming out in July? You're not going to have to wait 12 years!

It's Christmas and all that. Want to be 'the one' who receives this genuine Roman child's ring? (See 1p piece to realise how teeny their finger was.) I'll throw in a signed large format paperback of Rome. Open worldwide. To possibly be 'the one', simply leave a comment. Ends when I feel like it.

Ahh, I'll take that! Delighted you enjoyed Ferdia's story so much. /// Try Sands of the Arena, that's a standalone set of short stories and novellas (the latter will lead you into Eagles at War and the two books after it - when you feel like it, of course).

Ben Kane @benkaneauthor.bsky.social · 21/05/2025
