Benjamin Dickson @benjamindickson.bsky.social · 05/10/2026Thanks to all those involved in LICAF, I had a nice time and am now bloody exhausted. Thanks also to all those who came by my table! 000
Benjamin Dickson @benjamindickson.bsky.social · 01/10/2026I'm tabling at the Lakes International Comic Art Festival in Kendal this weekend. Come and say hi! Oh and buy my books. Buy them. BUY THEM. 010
Benjamin Dickson @benjamindickson.bsky.social · 28/09/2026Oh god, I hope not. Holding a phone over a french comic is not the best way to read it. Also the translation is functional, but quite obviously not as good as it would be with a real translator. 000
Benjamin Dickson @benjamindickson.bsky.social · 27/09/2026I was given a French BD with handwritten dialogue in 2020 and Google Translate couldn't cope with it. I tried it again a couple of months ago and it translated it pretty effortlessly. It's definitely come on. 110
Benjamin Dickson @benjamindickson.bsky.social · 20/09/2026Great Hi-Vis con yesterday, thanks to Ollie and everyone who helped put the show on. Being a free entry con it meant a lot of mums with young kids were there - they're not my audience (most of my books are fairly adult), but it's wonderful to see them in attendance. 000
Benjamin Dickson @benjamindickson.bsky.social · 18/09/2026I will be tabling at Hi-Vis comic con in Birmingham tomorrow, come and say hi if you're going! highviscomic-con.comhighviscomic-con.comKings Heath Comic Con 000
Benjamin Dickson @benjamindickson.bsky.social · 17/09/2026Yes, it astonishes me that I keep getting slick adverts telling me how glamorous some fucking online bingo game is. 010
Benjamin Dickson @benjamindickson.bsky.social · 13/09/2026There's got to be a Dredd script in there somewhere. 100
Benjamin Dickson @benjamindickson.bsky.social · 13/09/2026I misread that as "hot nerds" and was about to ask a whole load of follow up questions. 121
Benjamin Dickson @benjamindickson.bsky.social · 10/09/2026I just finished reading Edge of the Grave by @robbiemorrison.bsky.social, it's an excellent crime thriller set in 1930s gangland Glasgow. Very highly recommended. 122
Benjamin Dickson @benjamindickson.bsky.social · 07/09/2026TV show idea: Mental Rentals. Every week an undercover reporter seeks out the most insanely unpleasant, most insanely expensive and generally most insane rentals on the market, punctuated by talking heads of people's craziest experiences as renters. 000
Benjamin Dickson @benjamindickson.bsky.social · 06/09/2026Why they never got the actor who played Ned Ryerson to advertise Bing I will never know. Perhaps it simply didn't occur to them. 020

Benjamin Dickson @benjamindickson.bsky.social · 26/08/2026Yes, the idea of the book is to show the mindset of the time, as hindsight can often blind us to it. In the buildup to WW2 the last war was very fresh in the memory - and I think the feeling was one of overwhelming dread. 110
Benjamin Dickson @benjamindickson.bsky.social · 26/08/2026I will be tabling at Hi-Viz in Birmingham on 19th Sept, Lakes on 3-4 October, MCM on 23-25 October and Thought Bubble 14-15 November if anyone wants to grab a copy of Chamberlain from me there. 010
Benjamin Dickson @benjamindickson.bsky.social · 25/08/2026Very much so - Herge was drawing Tintin at the time this is set (the King Ottokar's Sceptre story, I think), so it seemed appropriate to draw influence from him! 110
Benjamin Dickson @benjamindickson.bsky.social · 25/08/2026A huge amount of visual reference was needed - @tokagezuki.bsky.social, @valentinabriskiart.bsky.social and Vincent Deporter knocked it out of the park, I think! 110
Benjamin Dickson @benjamindickson.bsky.social · 24/08/2026Huge thanks to Kieron Gillen for this review! 120
Benjamin Dickson @benjamindickson.bsky.social · 24/08/2026Thanks so much, Kieron! So glad you liked it! And yes, publishers, the rights are still available... 🙂 020

Benjamin Dickson @benjamindickson.bsky.social · 18/08/2026Count Binface said he was going to nationalise Adele, but the media isn't reporting that as if it's actually going to happen. 210
Benjamin Dickson @benjamindickson.bsky.social · 14/08/2026He really didn't want to be photographed next to Count Binface, did he? Farage made so many tactical errors here. There was never much doubt that he would be returned, but he never imagined how much of a mockery would be made of him. 120
Benjamin Dickson @benjamindickson.bsky.social · 14/08/2026I assume Farage didn't turn up to his own election results because he knew every newspaper photo the next day would have him standing next to Count Binface. 010
Benjamin Dickson @benjamindickson.bsky.social · 06/08/2026I know nothing about the guy, but I have read that he's heavily involved in de-radicalising organisations, having gone through the process himself. Ex-nazi is never a good look, but if he is now genuinely anti-nazi and is actively working to help others escape, then fair play to him. 110
Benjamin Dickson @benjamindickson.bsky.social · 04/08/2026Just watched The Odyssey. I thought it was excellent, maybe even a masterpiece. I haven't read the original, I'm assuming it's a fairly loose adaptation but I have no idea. 000
Benjamin Dickson @benjamindickson.bsky.social · 02/08/2026Yes, everyone sharing and being nice to each other is not what successful games are made of, sadly! 010
Benjamin Dickson @benjamindickson.bsky.social · 02/08/2026I once read that there was originally an alternative way to play monopoly that was based in socialist principles rather than capitalist principles. Buggered if I can find these rules, though. 110

Benjamin Dickson @benjamindickson.bsky.social · 11/07/2026The Bayeux Tapestry isn't really from Bayeux, it was almost certainly made in England. Also it's not actually a tapestry, it's an embroidery. Basically everything is a lie, nothing is real. 010

Benjamin Dickson @benjamindickson.bsky.social · 30/06/2026I saw this in the cinema, it's a great little low-budget indie thriller. Well worth your time. 132
Benjamin Dickson @benjamindickson.bsky.social · 27/06/2026There is an astonishing shortage on social media of people photoshopping Mr Blobby into Angine de Poitrine performances. Come on people, what's wrong with you? It couldn't be more obvious! 000
Benjamin Dickson @benjamindickson.bsky.social · 26/06/2026This morning I was contemplating a story called "Ned Dawn", in which a middle class housewife wakes up to find everyone in her village has been replaced by clones of @nedhartley.com 111
Benjamin Dickson @benjamindickson.bsky.social · 25/06/2026We haven't said hello at a con for a while, but I occasionally see you from afar - and each time I do, your appearance has changed. Benjamin Dickson @benjamindickson.bsky.social · 10/06/2026I would like to see a spin-off of Doctor Who entirely about the Daleks after they have conquered Earth, set in one street and how all the Daleks that live on that street are constantly arguing with each other, having relationship dramas and threatening to exterminate each-other. 000
