Look at Nicolas Cage. He made many horrible movies. Snake Eyes, 8mm, Gone in 60 Seconds, Captain Corelli's Mandolin, Windtalkers, Ghost Rider, Family Man, Weather Man, Wicker Man, Bangkok Dangerous. But the he nailed it, Stan! With National Treasure 2, the greatest movie of all time!

Homophones not so much. Plausible levenshtein distance typos? (But not nearby keys, weirdly). All the time. Git fetch -> Gut fetch Git fetch -> Git felch (I promise its not because that word is in muscle memory!!) God knows.

What with all the flock debacle going on over in the US, I do wonder to what extent UK average speed camera sets (anpr by definition) are mineable. We have a (generally) much better national relationship and trust with the police as a country (though of course issues exist).. and no VC involvement.

Starting to see full blown meat puppet discourse. It's like the world's most screwed up version of Searle's Chinese Room, where the person is notionally conscious, but only serves to pass on machine dialogue. *screams quietly*

Why do people bother plotting favourables and unfavourables? I can't remember seeing a graph in quite some time where they weren't direct x, 100-x.

There's a definite bonus here for this class of story - either it's trained off published and therefore well known source(s) and guaranteed to be not novel, or guaranteed to be hallucinating - hurrah!

Public pressure works. The Cornell 7 drugged and raped a student for seven hours. They offered her up for “free” to their entire frat house and the school made them write an essay about it. They must be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Jane Doe’s courage will help secure justice:

Hey, ProPublica reporter Jake Pearson here. I’m taking over the account to tell you about my new story. For months, I posed as a problem gambler on DraftKings to test the company's "responsible gaming" safeguards. Spoiler alert: They made me a VIP — and I lost $10K. Here's how it all went down. 🧵

Followed a link, ended up on the other place, and I can't get this advert out of my head.
An advert. A woman is playing a sudoku rip off. The phone's screen is facing away from her so we can see it, therefore she is playing agains the back of her phone.

Yes - you can get a 464 (64k tape version) 6128 (disk, 128k) or a rarer 664 (disk 64k) - the green screen was pretty popular with the 464 as a budget model.

NGL, one thing LLMs in language are good for are the questions I wouldn't bother a teacher with....
Why does italian flip at 17? Were the Romans secrethexadecimalists?

No, the Romans weren't hexadecimal. The boundary comes from word erosion in late Latin, not from any base-16 counting.

Classical Latin built its teens

differently. From 11 to 17 it put the unit first and fused it with -decim: undecim, duodecim, tredecim, quattuordecim, quindecim, sedecim, septendecim. But 18 and 19 were subtractive, duodeviginti ("two from twenty") and undeviginti ("one fı wenty"). So

Latin had its own oddity at the top of

Spent a while with claude yesterday tracing some 8 bit screen rendering. It got so amazingly confused. Patched an emulator to track instructions and then claimed "THE CODE IS WRITING ITSELF FROM NOWHERE, THERE MUST BE A HIDDEN MASTER PROCESS". No, it was... loading from disk?

I for one am sick to death of not being able to consume broadcast or streaming media without online casino ads. (Use a biased RNG at home, folks, what fun!) In the UK we have a massively cynical self policing program too: "set limits! Take a break! When the fun stops stop!", feels like a sop.
