Happy to announce a postdoc position with me and Jakob Strand, to work on data from the revamped Danish beached bird survey organised by DOF BirdLife Denmark. How many seabirds end up on Danish beached, where do they come from, and why did they die? #seabirds ecos.au.dk/en/about-us/...

🎉I am happy to share that since this week, I started a new postdoc position at @au.dk ❄️! For the next two years, I will be working on integrating ecological modelling, population monitoring and Inuit knowledge to co-develop practical conservation tools for muskox management in the Arctic 🇬🇱

📄New paper out in Behaviour doi.org/10.1163/1568539X-bja10356 🐦 Ambush behaviour is rarely reported among #seabirds. We observed that #MediterraneanShag might employ this strategy to seize fish schools. Our knowledge on seabird #foragingbehaviour is still lacking! #ornithology

This confirms energy as a ‘common currency’ linking individual behaviour to demographic outcomes. #MovementEcology
Final network summarizing the different significant relations between environmental covariates, individual‐level behaviour and energetics and colony‐level reproductive output.

We show that sea ice 🧊 drives individual energetics ⚡, while parental foraging effort predicts the population's reproductive success in Adélie #penguins.

Issue 23 has closed & issue 24 is open journals.biologists.com/jeb/issue/22... The front cover, by Benjamin Dupuis, French Polar Institute, shows an Adélie penguin leaping from the water to return to its colony. @bendps.bsky.social & co report how depth tracking can estimate penguin energy use
Journal cover for issue 23, volume 227 of Journal of Experimental Biology. The cover includes an image of an Adélie penguin leaping from the water onto ice to return to its colony. The image is by Benjamin Dupuis @bendps.bsky.social – French Polar Institute

My first PhD chapter just got published in @jexpbiol.bsky.social ! We proposed a new framework to estimate foraging energetics ⚡ of Adélie 🐧 using TDRs. Our framework provided results similar to accelerometers and could likely be applicable on other diving predators 🐋🦈 doi.org/10.1242/jeb....
